Job Description

BeZero is looking for an exceptional candidate to join as a Carbon Markets Policy Associate. The ideal candidate will have a background in climate policy and/or research, preferably with a Masters degree in policy or climate science.

BeZero Carbon is one of the fastest growing climatech startups in Europe, dedicated to tackling the climate transition by rapidly scaling carbon markets. Working for BeZero Carbon will give you an unparalleled opportunity to learn how to scale a climate business and make a lasting impact.

Carbon markets are undergoing rapid evolution to become an effective tool to tackle climate change. Policy and regulation will play a crucial role in how the market evolves, both at the domestic and international level. Your role will be to understand these developments and translate them into actionable workstreams to support our mission and intelligible content for our clients and the wider market. An important part of the role will be to engage with government and other organisations to support the development of effective policy that will support integrity and growth across the market.

The successful candidate would be joining BeZero at an important time for the organisation. BeZero is currently building the most comprehensive carbon credit ratings and data platform in the world and integrating policy developments into our approach will be crucial to our success.

Main responsibilities

•  Analysing regulatory developments across the Voluntary Carbon Market and the international carbon market (Article 6)

•  Understanding broader policy and market developments across carbon markets (such as the development of industry standards and other market trends)

•  Engaging with a wide range of government, business and other stakeholders to understand market developments and raise awareness of the work of BeZero Carbon

•  Providing succinct analysis content for our clients, specifically on regulatory and market developments

•  Assisting in writing research papers on carbon markets policy

• Writing thought leadership op-eds for media outlets

Candidate Profile

• Have a background in climate change policy, ideally in carbon markets.

• Have excellent written and spoken communication skills, with experience of distilling complex topics into succinct content.

•  Be experienced in engaging successfully with a range of policy and business stakeholders

• Be willing to work independently, showing initiative and drive to develop and complete ambiguous tasks.

• Have analytical skills that could complement and enhance their policy work, such as excel or broader economics or financial markets experience
