The position
The Finance Manager is overall responsible for the efficient delivery of all day-to-day finance activities, financial reporting and control. The Finance Manager leads the Operational Finance team based in The Netherlands and is responsible for the finances of (currently) 6+ legal entities. We expect the Operational Finance team to continue to grow rapidly (both in team size and number of legal entities to manage) in line with the international expansion of Sympower.


The Operational Finance team is responsible for:

  1. Managing, processing and recording of all day-to-day financial transactions and processes;

  2. Delivering timely and accurate financial reports;

  3. Tax filing and compliance with local reporting and legal requirements;

  4. FP&A: short-term financial planning and analysis of business performance and expenditure, including the annual budget;

  5. Creating annual reports, managing the audit process.


The Finance Manager ensures a robust internal control environment and will initially take on the FP&A role. The Finance Manager will report to and will work closely with the CFO on capital raising, M&A and other strategic projects.


What you’ll do

  • Manage and lead the Operational Finance team of 4+ team members

  • Further structure and streamline all financial processes and build an efficient and scalable finance organisation

  • Monitor accuracy and completeness of monthly country and group financial statements and ensure that these statements comply with relevant GAAP and other regulatory requirements

  • Oversee annual budgeting, monthly forecast reporting and reviews, P&L and cash forecasting

  • Ensure tax, legal and corporate compliance on all financial functions, worldwide

  • Manage the timely and accurate compilation of our group annual report(s) and manage the annual audit process

What you'll need

  • Master’s degree in Finance/Business/Economics or similar; relevant certification (e.g. CMA/CPA/RC/RA) will be preferred

  • Proven experience (7+ years) as a financial/business controller, accounting supervisor or senior accountant

  • Proven management experience, including the management and development of a functional team in a multidisciplinary environment

  • Experience with working in complex, international and demanding businesses

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, scale-up environment

  • Experience with Netsuite is strongly preferred

  • High integrity standard, reliable and easy communicator

  • Hands-on and proactive mentality

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
