Job Description

Boundary Stone Partners (BSP) is seeking a highly motivated  Associate for Federal Finance to join our fast-growing team of climate, clean energy, mobility, decarbonization and space experts. Boundary Stone Partners prefers this role work from our Washington, D.C. office. The salary range for this position is $55k-75k/year, with bonus potential.

About The Role

The Associate will play a key role for BSP’s Federal Finance Practice (FFP), which supports innovative and game-changing clean energy and technology companies in their efforts to secure non-dilutive funding or financing from the U.S. federal government, primarily in the form of grants or loans. BSP leverages its unparalleled expertise across the energy and climate-focused portions of the U.S. federal government to identify the highest-impact opportunities and then help clients navigate the federal processes necessary to compete for and win these awards. We offer premium, soup-to-nuts service supporting application development, political finesse, negotiations and beyond. 


Core responsibilities for a BSP Federal Finance Associate include:

  • Expert Organizing. This Policy Associate will serve an important role for BSP Finance clients, maintain an organized system of tracking, monitoring, and prioritizing tasks and projects related to the client deliverables; take notes for key meetings for follow up actions and reporting; develop and track proposals for new client engagements.
  • Generating Great Written Content. This Policy Associate will draft policy and briefing memos, correspondences, and other materials. The Policy Associate will also respond to written and verbal inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Diving into Great, Reliable Research. Each BSP Finance client represents a unique clean energy technology, market and business plan. This Policy Associate will support BSP colleagues in efforts to dive into the details of these technologies, conducting in-depth reviews of written materials; researching external materials from reliable, cited sources; and thinking critically to organize and draft insightful and productive follow-up questions.
  • Logical Support. This Policy Associate will provide logistical support to BSP Senior Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents for client meetings.
  • Helping Out. This Policy Associate will help out on special projects and other projects as assigned.
  • Being a Great Team Member. This Associate will be an integral part of BSP client teams, working collaboratively and supportively with colleagues, raising their hand and embracing challenges. 


About You

    • 2+ years of experience, preferably in federal government, policy or corporate government relations in the energy sector
    • Passionate about driving our carbon-free future
    • Highly organized, strategic thinker with polished oral and written presentation skills
    • Exceptional research skills 
    • Thrive under pressure and can balance long and short-term priorities to deliver results
    • Resourceful and entrepreneurial, roll-up your sleeves, and not afraid to think outside the box
    • Want to work with a team who values collegiality and a sense of humor
