Department: Development & Origination
Basic Function:
The Development Associate Intern will learn and support the development of large-scale renewable projects across the U.S. The successful intern will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of project development for solar and energy storage projects. The position will collaborate with the Strategy & Investment, Power Marketing, Capital Markets, Procurement and Construction teams during the development phase from origination / M&A to notice-to-proceed.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Development in increasing its project pipeline, developing utility scale solar and storage projects.
- Support the optimization of project development processes to accelerate the pace of development from origination/M&A to NTP across the Desert Southwest and Texas.
- Learn and develop market and competitive strategy for Desert Southwest states and Interwest Mountain states incl. IRP research, RFP tracking, interconnection queue analysis and regulation & legislation monitoring.
- Perform competitor analysis in the vicinity of SB Energy projects and help develop strategy and tactics to enhance competitive positioning of SB Energy and its projects.
- Develop comprehensive database to track utility procurement activities and interconnection procedure changes.
- Conduct market analysis and perform market intelligence to identify new growth markets and M&A targets.
Qualifications:
- Related coursework applicable to the above responsibilities.
- Related real estate, commercial development, or energy infrastructure experience preferred, but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
- Analytical skills and problem-solving mindset.
- Requires advanced communication skills to ensure clear communication internally & externally.
Location: San Diego, CA (WEST COAST) preferred. Remote work will be considered depending on the location.
