View Company ProfileCircle Economy is looking for an enthusiastic intern who wishes to apply their affinity with sustainability strategies and climate finance as part of the Finance Programme. The chosen candidate will be an independent individual with strong organisational capabilities and effective writing and research skills. An enthusiasm for our mission to improve access to capital in the circular economy is also imperative.
Finance is a key enabler in the transition to a circular economy. In low- and middle-income countries the circular economy represents a new frontier in sustainable development, while in more developed economies it is required to support pioneering businesses in underdeveloped
economic space. The goal is to support the financial sector to become a driver in the circular economy.
You will be assisting the Circle Finance Programme on several projects. One main focus will be on the Circularity Exchange Network (CEN) for the multilateral development banks (MDBs). Following the launch of the high-level roadmap at COP27, in December 2022, the CEN congregated leading MDBs with the goal of facilitating discussions around unlocking circular economy approaches within their sustainable development agenda. Over the past 6 months, the group has worked together in the run-up to the World Circular Economy Forum 2023, at which Circle Economy will hosting a variety of sessions in alignment with the MDB work.
Another exciting focus of the internship will be on the development of a finance focused chapter for our flagship report, the Circularity Gap Report 2024.
There will also be opportunities to involve yourself in the finance related challenges of our myriad other thematic areas, including the Built Environment, Cities, and the Circular Jobs Initiative.

You are a talented MSc student with:
excellent writing skills in English (with Dutch a plus);
excellent research skills;
a passion for circular economy / sustainability;
An understanding of the key tenets of climate finance
the ability to work in a team as well as independently;
a proactive, autonomous and fun character;
thriving in a dynamic working environment.
Reimbursement is offered of up to €652 (40 hours) per month gross, excluding travel stipend if you live outside of Amsterdam (up to a maximum of €100 per month). The position is available for 3-5 days per week.
