At Notpla, we’re on a mission to make packaging disappear. We’re an innovative, ideas and action-oriented start-up that was founded on the belief that nature knows best. We develop and manufacture naturally biodegradable packaging solutions, made from seaweed and plants. We’re looking to bring in a Growth Lead to drive the commercialisation of several of our early-stage materials and products, targeted at consumer packaged goods brands locally and globally.

This is an exciting time to join Notpla - we achieved our first £1m revenue year and expect to see rapid growth over the next 18-24 months. Our commercial team has traditionally been arranged in a product focussed matrix structure but as we grow and develop we have seen the need to create a deeper leadership structure that incorporates market specialities. The commercial team is a talented group that come from a variety of backgrounds, this gives a wide range of skills to call upon to help us meet our unique commercial goals and challenges. The role will work predominantly with our developing products, because of this, you will be focussed on selling ideas and solutions using your knowledge of the consumer goods industry to pinpoint market entry points, using those to propose single or multi-packaging solutions to large consumer brands. As well as direct business development and account management you will also be responsible for managing a team of BDM’s.Your profile
We’re looking for someone with strong, multi-year experience in FMCG (or wider CPG), with a preference towards that experience coming from branded food, beverage, personal or home care categories. It is imperative that you have exceptional leadership skills and have the ability to grow, develop and motivate a sales team. Experience with packaging, either directly or indirectly is also important. Additional responsibilities will include:
Develop a sales strategy from scratch, across multiple products, and with a clear process for the team to follow. Build trial partnerships with global CPG companies and gain visibility to build an ever stronger story for prospective investors as we scale our efforts
Lead by example on closing key accounts to hit early revenue targets, and building a culture of closing within the commercial function
Grow, develop, and mentor an emerging sales team, providing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations
Proactively Identify and pursue new business opportunities with consumer brands in CPG industries
Foster a team of high-performers with clear goals, targets and support in achieving them
Develop and manage sales budgets, forecasts, and reports, providing regular updates to the senior leadership team
Collaborate with Marketing, Design, Production, and Impact functions to ensure the smooth execution of projects and sales plans.
Represent Notpla at events and communicate the brand's values and unique selling propositions to customers
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences, and provide strategic recommendations accordingly
