Are you an undergraduate or graduate student in the Greater Boston area interested in renewable energy, environmental justice, nonprofits, and community engagement? Join the Climable team as an intern!

Climable is a small woman-run nonprofit in Cambridge, MA, with a mission to make climate science and clean energy understandable and actionable for everyone. Climable’s end goals are energy democracy (public participation in the energy transition) and climate resilience (improved avenues for anticipating, preparing for, and responding to climate disasters).

Our paid internships ($16/hr) are on a semester basis (Spring, Summer, Fall) and are supported by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center’s (CEC) Internship program. We aim to train future leaders in the energy and environmental space by providing our interns with hands-on opportunities to learn skills in topics such as:

Communications
Social media
Nonprofit operations
Office administration
Grant writing
Fundraising
Community organizing
Event planning
Renewable energy and other technical energy topics including economics, microgrids, community solar, climate science, etc.

Internships with Climable are hybrid positions and hired interns must be able to attend at least one in-office day per week on Wednesdays.

Internship Cycles + Hiring Timeline

The interview process with Climable includes a 30 minute phone screening and up to two additional rounds of video interviews (1-1 ½ hours). Writing samples may be requested.

The Spring semester internship (January 10- May 14) ~15-20 hours/week
- Hiring for Spring semester begins in late September/early October of the year prior
The Summer semester internship (May 15 - August 31) ~30 hours/week
- Hiring for Summer semester begins in early February
The Fall semester internship (September 1- December 15) ~15-20 hours/week
- Hiring for Fall semester begins in July and we expect to begin the interview process towards the end of July 2023.

Applicants must have an active profile on the MassCEC internship database (not the Jobs Board) by the end of the interview process. The MassCEC must confirm the applicant’s eligibility before a formal offer can be extended.

Qualifications: We are looking for candidates who are interested in learning more about our work and are passionate about mitigating the effects of climate change on communities. We welcome applicants from community colleges and local Boston-area colleges and universities, including students pursuing associate's, bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees. Internships with Climable are hybrid roles and interns hired must live in Massachusetts and be within commuting distance of Cambridge.
