Technical Product Manager - Electric Vehicle Charging 

Voltpost Inc is actively seeking a highly skilled Technical Product Manager to join our dynamic team. We are looking for an individual with experience managing hardware and software products that have been successfully shipped at scale. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to work cross-functionally with hardware and software teams, ensuring products are delivered on time and on budget, while maintaining the highest level of quality.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, encompassing both hardware and software components. This role will also include NPI supply chain and manufacturing bring up, including identifying and qualifying vendors and potential fabrication and assembly partners, supporting the engineering team in developing vendor qualification metrics, traveling to visit vendors, developing, improving, and maintaining our Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) processes. You will bring a wealth of technical knowledge with exceptional project management skills. Your expertise in both hardware and software domains will be invaluable as you collaborate across design, engineering, research, manufacturing, operations, business development, and quality assurance teams. 

This is a key management role that will strengthen collaboration across growing San Francisco and New York teams. The ideal candidate will identify and fill product gaps to drive growth, create buy-in across product and business teams, embrace the voice of the customer, develop data-driven analysis for decisions, and translate product strategy into detailed requirements. This person will also scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact while working closely across product and business teams to deliver results.

We reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution by rapidly deploying chargers that accelerate the electric mobility transition. Our goal is to empower people and communities to take climate action. We do this by retrofitting lampposts into Voltposts, a modular and upgradable charging platform. This provides people convenient and affordable charging access while reducing the cost, timing, and footprint of chargers. Our vision is to be a transformative force in the climate movement by making charging as common as lampposts.

This position is in-person in San Francisco, CA, with 15% travel to New York, NY.

Responsibilities:

  • Product Management: Lead and manage complex technical projects, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives. Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software and hardware solutions on time and within budget.
  • Supply Chain Management: Manage the bring up of the product supply chain, including identifying, qualifying, and managing fabrication and manufacturing partners, identify and mitigate supply chain risks to ship schedule, and propose solutions in the manufacturing and assembly of the product to ship on time, on budget, and at scale.
  • Project Planning and Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope definition, timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies. Monitor project progress, identify and address potential roadblocks, and ensure successful execution.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including engineering, product management, and quality assurance teams, to define project requirements, set priorities, and manage expectations. Communicate project status, risks, and updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Technical Expertise: Maintain a strong understanding of software and hardware development processes, technologies, and industry trends. Provide technical guidance and support to teams, assisting in problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all software and hardware deliverables meet high-quality standards through effective testing and validation processes. Implement quality assurance measures and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively address potential issues. Anticipate and manage changes in project scope, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain project documentation, including requirements, specifications, design documents, and technical reports. Generate regular reports on project progress, metrics, and key performance indicators.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Product Manager or similar role, in the hardware industry, such as consumer electronics, medical, or automotive spaces.
  • Experience in hardware, and handling Product Manufacturing Information is a must.
  • Strong product management skills, including project planning, budgeting, execution, and delivery.
  • Solid understanding of software and hardware development lifecycles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a physical science, engineering, or relevant work experience in the field.
