Who we are

Crux is a sustainable finance technology company changing the way clean energy and decarbonization projects are financed in the U.S. The company’s first offering is the ecosystem for buyers, sellers, and intermediaries to transact and manage transferable tax credits.

Crux is co-founded by Alfred Johnson and Allen Kramer, who previously founded and exited a successful marketplace software company, Mobilize. Rob Parker serves as Chief Commercial Officer and brings 20+ years of experience in the power industry, most recently serving as CFO at REV Renewables. Since its launch in 2023, Crux has raised $27 million in funding from venture capital and strategic investors and built a world-class team that merges expertise from energy, finance, government, and technology to power the clean energy transition.

Who we’re looking for

We are adding a Principal to our Markets & Transactions team to rapidly scale the network of developers and buyers, and execute more transactions. This is the team that scales our relationships with renewables developers and tax credit buyers, provides high-touch customer support, and facilitates transaction execution.

Together, we are building a company where we:

  • Care for each other: We are a team where people support each other - in their growth, in their work, and towards this shared mission.
  • Build and improve rapidly: We optimize for pace of learning, iteration, and growth. Nobody will move faster than us.
  • Focus unremittingly on the needs of those financing the energy transition: Nothing we do matters if we do not add value to everyone who works tirelessly to finance the energy transition.
  • Demonstrate ownership: We are all owners of Crux. This is our team, our company, our product.
  • Convene a team that reflects the breadth of experiences in the country: We expect everyone on the team to actively help us build a team where people of all backgrounds can thrive.

What you’ll do

  • Establish credibility and cultivate, close and expand partnerships with key senior leaders at developers, sponsors and intermediaries
  • Generate new developer leads through conferences, networking, outreach, and other creative methods, often working closely with Marketing and Growth teams
  • Own a book of business and customers, be responsible for meeting target outcomes
  • Educate developers on the critical role of the Crux ecosystem in tax credit transactions and demonstrate how to use Crux to achieve better outcomes (better realized prices, finding new counterparties, less admin burden, etc)
  • Onboard customers into our platform to transact at scale
  • Serve as a facilitative partner and provide white glove service to developers throughout the transaction lifecycle; help them get ahead of key issues and meet transaction timelines

Expectations

  • Build strong relationships with sellers, seller advisors and other intermediaries to encourage them to join the Crux ecosystem
  • Inform product development with user insights and subject matter expertise
  • Problem solve and overcome seller objections to get them to onboard to the Crux platform
  • Quickly identify and resolve commercial issues with sellers, advisors, and intermediaries
  • Understand Crux platform, buyer sales process, transaction flow, pricing, and commercial agreements
  • Know how to manage complex transactions with wide variety of stakeholders and bring them to successful close
  • Serve as an expert resource to buyers on all aspects of tax credit transactions
  • Operate with autonomy, quickly surface issues, research, propose and execute solutions
  • Maintain your customer data in product and other internal tools
  • Discuss complicated topics with clarity and accuracy
  • Strong collaborative and team orientation

Who you are

  • 7+ years of experience in clean energy development and/or finance
  • Have played a leading role in project origination, with experience leading client development, capital raising, negotiation, structuring and transaction closings
  • Strong transaction experience. You have lived and breathed financing renewables and decarbonization, and are deeply familiar with tax equity and tax credits
  • Unrivaled relationship building skills; you build trust quickly and communicate clearly
  • Adaptable and excited about building at the early stage. You’re not afraid to roll-up your sleeves and build things yourself.
  • Love figuring out the answer to a new challenge
  • Highest ethical standards
  • Contribute to and help build team culture

What we offer

  • Estimated base compensation of ~$200,000 with uncapped bonus structure (on-target of ~$50-$100k), depending on seniority and equity
  • Competitive equity package
  • Healthcare benefits, including dependent coverage
  • Remote-first company
  • Travel stipend to get the team together at least once a quarter

We are excited to meet you!
