What success will look like for the Actuation Control Architect:

  • Lead the technical development strategy for the tilt and blade pitch systems to meet the aircraft and programme objectives.
  • Own the technology roadmap for the current and future development of actuation systems.
  • Be responsible for overall system architecture and design, integrating this across multiple aircraft disciplines.
  • Undertake work which requires the application of fundamental principles of engineering, control, systems integration and systems thinking in a wide and often unpredictable range of contexts.
  • Approving technical IPT deliverables (plans, requirements, descriptions, reports, tasks, instructions, declarations etc).
  • Mentor and develop the team on technical topics.
  • Define and carry out technical trade studies for your team’s systems to meet aircraft performance, integration and other programme objectives.
  • Establish fit for purpose requirements and criteria by which the product plan will be executed to meet or exceed the aircraft objectives and certification.
  • Define and maintain key interfaces (functional, comms, structural) between your systems and other aircraft teams.

Everything sounds very interesting but how do I know this is the role for me?

  • We seek an individual with a proven track record in a highly-regulated industry as an organised self-starter who has led the development and integration of complex electro-mechanical systems, tightly coupled with other systems, within time critical programmes.
  • Proactivity, forward thinking and self-motivation with the ability to build and lead a team of like-minded engineers.
  • A passion for building something new.
  • You will have the technical background necessary to successfully lead the technical definition of these systems.
  • Degree in electronic engineering or similar
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a complex aircraft development environment managing multiple priorities simultaneously.

Specific Technical Experience in:

  • Requirement Management
  • Management of technical risk
  • Validation & Verification
  • Driving software development
  • Supplier management to deliver projects involving complex electronics
  • Knowledge of regulatory certification specifications such as SC-VTOL,  CS/FAR-23, 25, 27 or 29 is highly desirable.
