Location: Home based in Scotland with travel to project sites

Team: OVO Energy Solutions

Salary banding: £35,000-£40,000

Experience: Mid-level/Expert

Working pattern: Full-Time

In the SHE team, we support our project teams and contractors with the safe and compliant delivery of our projects, as we install energy efficiency measures to help those most in need to cut carbon emissions and save money on their fuel bills.

 

 

This role in a nutshell:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our OVO Energy Solutions SHE team, where you’ll play an integral part in inspiring and helping our busy project teams and contractors execute their work consistently to deliver safe and compliant energy efficiency projects.

 

 

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Carrying out SHE competency checks on our prospective supply chain contractors
  • Reviewing project documentation such as construction phase plans, risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
  • Ensuring our projects are carried out in compliance with all applicable H&S legislation and regulations, including the CDM Regulations 2015
  • Undertaking SHE engagement visits and inspections on live project sites
  • Agreeing any corrective actions from site visits and inspections, and tracking through to closure 
  • Attending project and stakeholder meetings as required
  • Supporting and undertaking event investigations to closure, ensuring lessons are learned to prevent it happening again
  • Championing and actively encouraging hazard and near miss event reporting
  • Assisting, supporting, coaching and mentoring colleagues and contractors
  • Participating in the creation and updating of risk assessments and safe systems of work for Energy Solutions activities
  • Supporting with development and review of SHE documentation for our Safety Management System
  • Participating in wider OVO internal forums, ensuring sharing and adopting of best practice
  • Creating and delivering internal briefs and toolbox talks on relevant SHE matters

Systems:  SafetyCulture and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)

 

You’ll be a successful SHE Advisor here at OVO if you…

  • Hold a NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate - either of these is a prerequisite for this role
  • Have a solution focused mindset in your approach to SHE issues and be able to explain in simple terms what’s required
  • Have practical experience in the application of SHE in relation to social housing refurbishment projects or similar
  • Have solid experience of contractor engagement and management in relation to SHE for a Principal Contractor
  • Are able to build and maintain solid working relationships
  • Are happy to travel extensively within your region and to other parts of the UK to visit project sites when required

 

You won’t like this role if you…

  • Are uncomfortable working on your own a lot of the time
  • Can’t commit to regular travel across your region and other parts of the UK
  • Are uncomfortable having difficult conversations when needed with stakeholders or contractors

We’ll pay you between £35,000 and £40,000 depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
