Role Description

This position will serve as an exciting opportunity to define the system-level architecture and detailed controls and electrical design of the Test Capabilities at Form Energy!

As a Test Development Engineer on the Battery Products Team, you will be an integral part of proving out our full scale cell and battery module performance. You will be invested in developing and deploying novel, state-of-the-art test equipment, contributing towards the hardware and software development of our test capabilities, and supporting our operations team in keeping our tests online. We are a hands-on team who all love diving into hard problems like test troubleshooting and then designing out these problems for future tests.   

What You'll Do:

  • Own the electrical design of battery module test stands including power distribution design, harnessing, safety and interlocks, data collection.

  • Design/develop custom PCBs in support of test stand improvements and simplification

  • Work with internal and external teams to bring your designs to fruition.

  • Engage with stakeholders to align on test stand requirements.

  • Architect the next generation of full scale cell and battery module test stands.

  • Troubleshoot and root-cause test setups for battery modules and cells.

What You'll Bring:

  • A BS degree in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent degree/experience

  • 4+ years of experience developing medium- to high-volume electrical/automation equipment

  • 2+ years of experience in the design/fabrication of custom PCBs

  • Experience generating electrical schematics (AutoCAD Electrical, Solidworks Electrical)

  • Knowledge of how to design electrical test setups to both minimize resources for setup and maximize length of test without interruption 

  • Experience working with scripted programming languages like Python for instrument control and/or data analysis

  • Experience working with data acquisition systems (Keysight, National Instruments, etc.)

  • Familiarity with PLCs/HMIs

  • Excellent communication skills and experience wrangling different stakeholders to align on a set of requirements

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment
