Role Description
We are looking for a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join our battery products team. In this role, you will be an integral part of proving out our full scale cell and battery module performance. Specifically, an Iron-air battery needs air, and as a mechanical engineer on the products team you will be responsible for ensuring that our batteries get air and are tested in a field-representative way. This role works as a part of the module performance team to design test set ups for high quality data collection and analysis, and is a great opportunity to have a direct impact on this new technology.
What You'll Do:
Design and implement a lab-wide air supply and treatment system to enable battery module and full-scale cell testing
Design balance of plant for customized testing setups on modules
Obtain stakeholder alignment on design requirements and priority of design implementation
Work alongside battery and test engineers to ensure product-forward solutions in our testing facility
Analyze test data to feedback into future testing set up improvements
What You'll Bring:
6 + years of experience in testing/mechanical design applications
A team-focused mentality
Working knowledge of fluid mechanics (Bernoulli’s, etc…) and chemical/thermal compatibility of common materials
Ability to drive projects forward through effective stakeholder communication and alignment
Flexibility for a dynamic, startup working environment
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree/experience
