Role Description

We are looking for a supervisor with experience in R&D, test or manufacturing operations to help us test and validate our iron-air battery technology. In this role, you will manage the test operations team at the Berkeley site in CA, consisting of test technicians, to ensure timely execution and maintenance of battery cell and module testing. This role will be responsible for supporting the scale up of test lab infrastructure, improving test operational processes, reducing test integration time, setting performance metrics across the team, and managing test lab personnel. This supervisor position will be responsible for hiring and performance management of our test technician team. You will also help communicate test team success metrics through regular meetings and reporting.

What You'll Do:

• Manage a team of technicians by providing them tactical directions for sourcing, installing, commissioning and executing test related projects.

• Instill lab operational best practices to reduce commissioning time, increase consistency and improve throughput metrics of Test Operations team.

• Oversee test lab operations while maintaining environmental health and safety (EHS) and 5S best practices.

• Forecast constraints and problems in project execution and come up with creative, budget-friendly solutions. Seek approval from executive management if necessary.

• Adhere to Form’s manager expectations including overseeing timekeeping, performance management, and professional development for all team members.

What You'll Bring:

• Minimum of 4-6 years experience in fast-paced high-tech environment with demonstrated problem-solving skills (test lab experience a plus)

• Experience managing a team of engineers and/or technicians in a R&D lab setting

• Experience managing a variety of projects with a diverse group of stakeholders

• Operational excellence to improve throughput and/or quality to the build or testing 

• Cross-functional communication skills to allow for collaboration with the tech team

• Strategic vision to build a long term plan and projection of future needs to inform resource planning and budgeting

• Strong communication skills to share project status and an ability to gain buy-in from executive and technical stakeholders
