Role Description:

The Development Test group, part of Engineering within the Technology org at Form, is instrumental in providing battery testing platforms and services across all of Form's facilities and is invaluable in delivering and scaling our technology.

 

Form Energy is hiring a Manager of Test Operations in Somerville, MA, to own all battery testing operations. As part of the broader group, you will lead, develop, and evolve all battery testing processes, including test execution and test infrastructure maintenance, while upholding the highest level of safety within the battery test labs. You will work closely with the cell build team and other teams within the Development Test organization to understand battery testing needs and establish operational processes to maximize operational efficiency. You will manage a team of associate managers, ops test engineers, and test technicians responsible for test execution, test infrastructure maintenance, and equipment upkeep.

What You'll Do:

  • Grow and lead the Test Operations Team, responsible for all test execution, test operations, and infrastructure maintenance in Somerville, MA

  • Advance and operationalize a world-class battery testing facility  

  • Implement continuous process improvements to ensure high test reliability and operational excellence

  • Support major battery testing initiatives and projects to expand test capabilities, including the development and implementation of new test methods and new instrumentations 

  • Forecast different projections for test resource demand scenarios and prepare for operational needs 

  • Build and maintain resource plans and budgets for test operations  

  • Embody and instill a strong safety-first culture in the battery test lab

What You'll Bring:

  • 8+ years experience in technical operations, ideally in electrochemical testing environments 

  • Prior leadership and management experience is required, demonstrating a clear record of success in hiring, building, and leading small to medium-sized teams  

  • Experience responding to the needs of a dynamic organization, including a track record of establishing new or improving existing processes within technical operations 

  • Ability to navigate all levels of the technology development organization to understand current and upcoming needs, cross-prioritize initiatives and communicate expectations 

  • Excellent leadership, project management, communication, and organizational skills 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or equivalent experience
