Job Description

EDAC Labs is developing a new class of electrochemistry systems that provide low-energy synthesis of acid and base for decarbonization applications. EDAC Labs’ technology, which was created in Professor Chao Wang's lab at the Johns Hopkins University School of Engineering, is currently supported by R&D grants from ARPA-E and DARPA, and is being commercialized by EDAC Labs, where Dr. Wang serves at Chief Technology Officer. EDAC Labs is supported by a $3M seed funding round led by the Grantham Foundation for the Protection of the Environment. EDAC Labs was also selected for the highly competitive Third Derivative First Gigaton Captured Cohort.

EDAC Labs’ core innovation is an electrochemical cell that enables low-energy splitting of brine into acids and bases. While acids and bases have a wide range of uses, EDAC Labs’ first two applications are: 1) carbon-negative mining and 2) direct air carbon capture and sequestration. We also plan to sell electrochemical systems to developers doing ocean alkalinity enhancement, direct ocean capture, and enhanced weathering.

EDAC Labs seeks a chemicals industry senior process engineer / team leader who will help us to build, optimize and scale up the system to support commercial volumes of acid-base production, carbon capture, and sequestration/utilization. Working alongside our electrochemistry team, you will build, test, and optimize the balance of plant. You will become a subject matter expert on system optimization. You will also participate in the creation of control systems and help construct prototypes for field deployment.

Ideal candidates have:

  • 10+ years of work experience in process engineering within the chemicals industry.
  • Proficiency in Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and process development.
  • Ability to work with contractors and consultants.
  • Experience in fluid piping system design and pressure drop calculations.

EDAC Labs is sprinting towards a 1 ton per day prototype, and you will be a key player in making this happen. Join us.

EDAC Labs is an equal opportunity employer and seeks to build a diverse workplace for the benefit of finding the best ideas, most innovative solutions, and creating a supportive and inclusive workplace environment.

This is a full time role with stock options.  EDAC Labs offers competitive salary, benefits and equity options.
