ABOUT THE COALITION

The Building Decarbonization Coalition (BDC) aligns building industry stakeholders with energy providers, environmental organizations and local governments to help electrify homes and workspaces with clean energy. Through convening, policy analysis and consumer awareness building, the Coalition is pursuing fast, fair action to accelerate the development of zero-emission homes and buildings that will help cut one of the largest sources of climate pollution, while creating safe, healthy and affordable communities. 

POSITION SUMMARY 

As the Manager of Human Resources, you will be responsible for establishing, communicating, and maintaining policies and practices in compliance with federal, state, county and city laws, rules and regulations that are applicable to BDC. This role works closely with the Director of Operations and Executive team to manage emerging risks, complex employment requirements, and workplace policy expectations. This role also provides enterprise-wide communication and training regarding legal requirements, best practices, and changes to employment related policies, processes, and procedures.  You will also serve as the lead resource relating to BDC’s performance management process and employee benefits information, insurance plans, enrollment options, eligibility, coverage, and claims

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • In partnership with the Director of Operations, accountable for developing, communicating and maintaining compliant policies and processes pertaining to wage and hour, leave and accommodations, recruitment, federal and state reporting requirements (including EEO), time away requirements, Form I-9, immigration, compliance posters and training requirements.
  • Identifies new, existing, and revised federal, state, county and city employment and labor laws, regulations and enforcement activity, analyzes cross-company compliance risk and recommends policy and procedural changes to HR Leadership.
  • Advises HR staff of new federal, state, county and city, legislation and regulations relevant to BDCs employment law practices and processes.
  • Create and implement new and revised processes, system enhancements, and workflows to ensure compliance with federal, state, county and city employment and labor laws and regulations.
  • Drafts, reviews and updates employment policies and handbook(s) consistent with all applicable laws.
  • Builds strong relationships within BDC to enhance the integration of compliance requirements into their processes.
  • Assist employees with completing enrollment forms and process enrollment forms including the annual open enrollment period.
  • Manage lobbying compliance and time tracking.
  • Assists with information gathering for annual filings, measurement period, eligibility determination, compliance testing, government filings, and other duties related to the benefit plan administration.
  • Serve as a resource for FMLA and leave management
  • Manage the performance management process for employees including communications, training, supporting resources, and compliance.
  • With the Director of Operations, manage employee relations issues, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
  • With the Director of Operations, administer consistent and equitable compensation programs.
  • Develop policies and train managers on handling employee relations issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Broad based knowledge and experience of employment and labor law and regulations
  • Experience working collaboratively with Human Resources, Legal and business partners
  • Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically with respect to the needs of business clients and their objectives while ensuring compliance with law and industry best practices
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical or specialized concepts to partners
  • Assertive leadership and influencing skills
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiating ability
  • Good analytical skills
  • Strong organizational and both time/project management ability
  • High level of detail orientation
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and project management tools
  • Cross-functional knowledge of HR Operations and HR systems
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in HR Operations.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to thrive in a dynamic and evolving nonprofit environment.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical conduct in handling sensitive information.

WORK ENVIRONMENT, SCHEDULE, & TRAVEL

Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 commensurate with experience, plus a competitive benefits package including paid health insurance coverage, retirement benefits with company matching, unlimited flexible paid leave, 12 paid holidays, access to professional development resources, and much more.
