Job Description

About us

At Arca, we pull carbon dioxide from the air and store it permanently as rock. To do this at scale, we partner with the minerals industry to implement our technology at mines.  These are the same mines that are producing the minerals (nickel, for example) necessary for the transition to a clean energy future. Arca’s founders are leaders in the field of carbon capture in mine tailings with more than 20 years of experience in innovation and research.

We believe that by working with nature, not against it, we can achieve carbon dioxide removal on the scale needed to secure thriving and abundant life on Earth for generations to come. If that resonates, we want to hear from you. We’re building a team of sharp, mission-driven, and collaborative individuals who take pride in using their skills to contribute to a sustainable future.

Position Overview

This internship is designed for students or recent grads in geoscience, chemistry, engineering, or related fields who are looking to gain practical experience and develop their skills in the emerging carbon dioxide removal industry. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in climate and sustainability, and be eager to gain hands-on experience in an early-stage start-up. The individual would work closely with the R&D team on both lab-based and office-based tasks. They should also be prepared to help out with other company tasks as they arise. Arca is committed to providing its interns with a challenging and rewarding work environment, and to supporting their professional development.

  • Carry out diverse tasks as they arise, even if not lab-related, as they often do in a start-up environment!

Requirements of the role

  • Enrolment in a degree in geology/geochemistry/geotechnical engineering/ chemistry/materials science or any related field
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, written, verbal, and concise presentation of complex technical topics.
  • Affinity for teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Right to live and work in Canada without sponsorship

We’re looking for individuals who…

  • Are optimistic we can make an impact in the fight against climate change
  • Say yes before no when confronted with ideas and situations that challenge their ideas of what’s possible
  • Thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced working environment

What we offer at Arca

  • A competitive salary
  • Flexible working policy
  • A fun and diverse environment focused on making the biggest impact possible on climate change
