The Role

At Notpla, we’re on a mission to make packaging disappear. We’re an innovative, ideas and action-oriented start-up that was founded on the belief that nature knows best. We develop and manufacture naturally biodegradable packaging solutions, made from seaweed and plants. We are currently looking to recruit a Head of Supply Chain and Procurement to lead that function, ensuring we are able to reduce our costs, de-risk our supply chain and deliver effectively to all of our customers.

The Manufacturing & Development group within Notpla are responsible for creating our innovative and unique range of products.  In particular, the team is tasked with the in-house production of our flagship Ooho product. They are led by our Director of Development & Manufacturing, who has years of experience leading the development of sustainable packaging alternatives. The team is incredibly dynamic and they have a very flexible approach to problem solving that allows them to flourish with this new and exciting product technology. They are a group that celebrate change and have a constant desire to push the process and capabilities of their products forward. Our supply chain and procurement function is one which has a hand in every area of the business, so is very important to our continued success. As part of the Development and Manufacturing team, you will have access to everyone you need to make informed strategic decisions that help us push forward as a business. 

Your profile

As a business that has a wide portfolio of products, we have a wide and far reaching supply and partnership network, that needs nurturing. We are looking for someone who is adaptable and who has the ability to lead activities in a wide variety of industries. We are currently prior itising lowering the cost of our products, so strong negotiation and contract writing skills are a must. You must also be data and process driven, with a strong eye for detail. We are looking for someone with extensive experience in leading the Supply and Procurement function of a manufacturing business, someone who is ready to use this experience to redefine the packaging industry. As well as the above, other day to day responsibilities will include:


  • Procurement Strategy - Driving the development and execution of a comprehensive procurement strategy that aligns with the organisation’s goals and objectives.

  • Supplier Management - Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on performance, cost and quality.

  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and manage supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery and quality standards

  • Contract Negotiation - Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favourable terms and conditions. Including pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules

  • Cost Control - Implement cost-saving initiatives and strategies, monitor expenses, and identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality or service

  • Market Analysis - Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies

  • Reporting - Prepare and present procurement reports, KPIs, and performance metrics to LT

  • Lead and manage supply chain team within the business ensuring they are empowered to meet key delivery targets and personal objectives
