Job Description

About Rondo Energy

Rondo Energy's mission is to eliminate 15% of global CO2 emissions in 15 years.

To accomplish this mission, Rondo is deploying low-cost, zero-carbon Rondo Heat Batteries to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy and to significantly decarbonize industrial processes that are commonly thought of as "difficult-to-decarbonize". Our Heat Batteries charge from intermittent renewables to provide high temperature, continuous heat for customers safely, reliably, at an unprecedented 98% efficiency - and at a cost point that is lower than any other method.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for budgeting, cost control, financial forecasting, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed successfully and within budget, and have a huge impact on the scaling of RHBs (Rondo Heat Batteries)!

Join our team and together we can reduce world CO₂ emissions by 1% in 10 years, and by 15% in 15 years!

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that all expenses are tracked, controlled, and reported accurately
  • Collaborate with project teams to create accurate cost estimates and provide input on pricing strategies
  • Prepare and maintain financial forecasts for ongoing and upcoming construction projects, identifying potential financial risks and opportunities
  • Generate regular financial reports, including profit and loss statements, cash flow reports, and variance analysis to senior management and project stakeholders
  • Evaluate vendor and contractor invoices, ensuring they align with project budgets and contracts
  • Assess and process change orders, tracking their impact on project budgets and timelines
  • Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure projects stay within budget and on schedule
  • Oversee financial aspects of project closeout, including reconciling project costs, final payments, and ensuring all financial documentation is complete
  • Maintain clear and open communication with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding project financials

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Proven experience as a Project Controller or Financial Analyst in the Construction industry
  • Strong financial analysis and budgeting skills
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, project management software)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Knowledge of construction industry regulations and standards

What We Offer:

  • Comprehensive Medical Benefits
  • Dental & Vision Benefits
  • Life Insurance and ADD
  • Up to 13 paid holidays per year, in addition to a company week-long holiday in December
  • Flexible time off policy
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Rondo HQ is close to Oakland airport - one block from the Bay - and has stunning Bay views!

This role necessitates being on-site at our Houston offices. The estimated annual salary range for this role is $70,000 to $110,000 and it would be eligible for Rondo's excellent benefits listed above plus additional compensation in the form of equity. Please note that some pay bands may have wide ranges of compensation to accommodate candidates' diverse sets of skill levels and experience.
