About the Job
As a Bioprocess Engineer Intern, you will support in operating bioreactor equipment, designing, and optimizing precision fermentation processes for cocoa butter alternatives. A Taste of What to Expect
- Design and optimize precision fermentations for cocoa butter alternatives in collaboration with the team
- Operate and maintain bioreactor systems and other essential laboratory equipment
- Conduct experiments, collect samples, and perform analytical tests to monitor and evaluate process performance
- Analyze data to identify trends, optimize process parameters, and troubleshoot issues.
- Support process scale-up, DSP activities, technology transfer, process validation, and develop strategies to improve efficiency and productivity
- Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Bioprocess Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field
- A strong familiarity with bioreactor systems, fermentation processes, sample collection and analysis, and commonly used laboratory equipment in downstream processing is highly advantageous
- Knowledge of basic principles and concepts of fermentation and/or process engineering
- Experience with lipid extraction techniques (e.g., solvent extraction, supercritical fluid extraction, membrane separation) is an advantage
- Basic understanding of process optimization principles and statistical analysis techniques with data analysis software (e.g., Excel, MATLAB, Python) is a plus
- Attention to detail and ability to follow experimental protocols

We make future-proof chocolate using precision fermentation. Doing this, our chocolate is 10x more sustainable and 20% cheaper than conventional chocolate. In order to mimic the organoleptic properties of chocolate (tender, smoothly melting taste release) we are working on the flavor itself but also on replacing the cocoa butter. 55 Mio lbs of chocolate are consumed every day. By 2035 we will substitute a big chunk of it through our sustainable chocolate.</p>
