Job Overview
The Senior Food Safety Auditor, SQF/BRC is responsible for conducting audits in accordance with food safety and quality management systems. The Auditor travels to client sites, performs audits, determines compliance, reviews corrective actions, and submits their audit reports for review and certification. Additionally, the Auditor will support the technical team during down times. This is a full-time, remote employee position with SCS.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Audit Services

  • Perform 3rd party audits under multiple schemes, in-house programs, and client specific programs
  • Adhere to all quality and code of conduct standards
  • Conduct audits using applicable checklists, forms, and tools
  • Submit complete and accurate audit reports within established timelines
  • Manage positive client relationships and respond to all client inquiries and concerns in a timely manner
  • Conduct technical report reviews and support Technical Manager on certificate decisions when necessary
  • Attend trainings to maintain qualification to conduct audits; maintain training records
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of applicable regulations and standards
  • Maintain a sense of urgency and excellence in responsiveness to matters effecting client service and satisfaction

Program Quality and Compliance

  • Provide assistance in the development and implementation of scheme procedures, guidance, and training materials to increase quality and efficiency of auditing services and certification processes
  • Support operations and audit management to ensure all staff maintain current knowledge and training of the scheme requirements
  • Work with SCS’s Client Services team to accept/confirm audits
  • Prepare and send client audit plan according to protocols
  • Book travel, hotel, and transportation according to company policy, and submit expense reports in a timely manner
  • Manage the collection of documents as needed as a part of the audit process
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of program quality documents
  • Provide support to the Technical team with technical interpretation; support program and sales staff in resolving complex technical questions
  • Participate in webinars, trade shows, and support sales calls to provide technical sales support

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Biology, Engineering, or other related scientific areas and
  • 2+ years experience in third-party auditing in the assigned schemes and
  • 5+ years of industry experience in Quality Assurance, Technical or Risk Management at a managerial, decision making level. 2nd or 3rd party auditing experience may also be considered
  • Initiative, good judgment, and ability to work independently under pressure in a changing environment
  • Ability to complete time-sensitive projects and to provide realistic deadlines, time management skills
  • Highly organized, deadline driven with superior time management skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team, responsive and adaptive personality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint (Advanced proficiency)
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 75% time

Working Remotely
SCS is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. This is a home-office based role and may include travel with local, domestic, and/or international trips. Details will be clarified during the recruitment process.

Estimated Annual Salary
$82,000 - $94,000
