Jaro Fleet Technologies is a well-funded (GGV, Lerer-Hippeau, Maersk, et al) early-stage startup led by EV expert Joe Miler (ex-Apple Special projects, Lucid, MIT, Stanford). Jaro is in stealth commercializing an industry-first biz model to beat diesel semi-trucking on $/mile. The model uses renewable energy assets and commodity EV technologies in a novel configuration to drive enormous cost savings and scalability. Today, commercial solar is 10x cheaper than diesel on a $/mile basis and yet diesel continues to dominate. Jaro aims to change this.

Role
Jaro is a hiring a Project Engineer to lead the build of a first-in-class truck electrification site. The Project Engineer will lead all vendor selection and project management necessary to demonstrate the core capabilities of Jaro's unique electrification model, and subsequently iterate and scale to many new deployments.


Top role qualifications

  • Excellent engineering fundamentals: strong working knowledge of high-power, high-voltage engineering.
  • HV equipment deployment experience: track record of successfully deploying HV equipment in the field.
  • Early-stage startup experience: able to deliver exceptional results in a rapidly-evolving, high-stakes environment.
  • Excellent communication skills: pro-actively and efficiently communicate cross-functionally to ensure high-quality deliverables responsive to company's evolving needs.
  • Collaborative autonomy: takes responsibility to solve big challenges while communicating collaboratively to ensure team progress.
  • Self-motivated: combines enthusiasm with focus to motivate oneself and encourage others.

Key role responsibilities

  • Develop a baseline system design in collaboration with company leadership.
  • Engage equipment vendors and scaling partners to vet technical specifications on equipment.
  • Coordinate closely with suppliers and partners to deploy HV equipment in the field.
  • Run pilot testing of HV equipment in the field to meet highly specific business requirements and customer requests.
  • Maintain high standards for safety in terms of process, practices, and culture.
  • Maintain strong interpersonal relationships with key deployment partners and properly represent company values in the field.
  • Build and use lightweight project management tools including GANNT and risk management tracker.
  • Support company technical roadmapping for future deployments.
  • Travel required: ~25-50%
  • Role will evolve and grow rapidly.
