<h2>We're looking for a Head of Facilities and Laboratories to manage our pilot facility in central London.</h2>As Head of Facilities and Laboratories at Hoxton Farms, you will oversee our cutting-edge pilot production facility, laboratories and office in central London. You will lead a dedicated team to support ongoing R&D and production, quality management, procurement and strategic planning. Every day you’ll play a critical role in bringing cultivated fat to market and creating a deliciously fatty future.Based at the HYLO Building in London, our state-of-the-art HQ, opened in 2023, spans 14,000 sq ft and includes a 1000 L pilot production facility, extensive R&D labs, a professional kitchen, hardware workshop and a beautiful office. As our Head of Facilities, your responsibilities will include:<ul style=""><li>Leading day-to-day lab and facilities operations such as inventory management, ordering, equipment installation and maintenance</li><li>Overseeing a world-class quality management / quality assurance system comprising risk assessments, SOPs, food safety plans, batch records, quality reports, CoAs and environmental monitoring. You’ll work closely with our Quality team to build safe, compliant, market-ready production facilities for cultivated fat – in London and beyond.</li><li>Managing laboratory operations technicians, R&D technicians and procurement specialists</li><li>Strategic planning including designing new buildings and facilities, ensuring regulatory and statutory compliance and planning our long-term growth to industrial scale</li><li>Taking responsibility for our facilities and laboratories budget including laboratory purchasing, managing suppliers and vendors and procuring new capital equipment</li><li>Managing critical utilities including HVAC, plumbing, temperature monitoring, gas and LN2 banks, cell banks and access controls</li><li>Managing pilot plant utilities including bioreactors and SIP/CIP infrastructure, water filtration and waste disposal</li><li>Acting as the company Health and Safety Officer</li></ul>You must have at least five years' experience in facilities management in the ATMP manufacturing, fermentation or brewery industries, including:<ul style=""><li>Running, maintaining, designing and commissioning production facilities</li><li>Tendering and procuring capital equipment and infrastructure; purchasing and supplier management</li><li>Coordinating health and safety in an industrial research and production environment</li><li>Excellent working understanding of utilities and facility management including HVAC, MEP, compressed gases and cold storage</li><li>Electronic lab notebook (ELN) and laboratory information management system (LIMS) management</li><li>Line management and leadership</li><li>Familiarity with microbiology, cell culture or bioprocessing</li></ul>You should have experience in some, but not necessarily all, of the following areas:<ul style=""><li>Familiarity with cell biology and bioprocess engineering</li><li>Good laboratory practice (GLP)</li><li>Good manufacturing practice (GMP)</li><li>NEBOSH Health and Safety Level 6</li><li>Quality management systems (ISO 9001)</li><li>Laboratory automation</li></ul>The benefits:💰 Highly competitive salary📈 Stock option plan🏛️ Brand new lab and office in Old Street🏡 Pension plan (matching up to 5% with a salary sacrifice scheme)🏖️ 25 days' holiday + bank holidays🚑 Private health insurance + gym discount👐 Supportive and collaborative environment💪 Being part of something amazingHoxton Farms is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing a working environment that embraces inclusion, diversity and belonging.If you believe you would add value to our company but don’t meet all the criteria, we would still love to hear from you.
