Job Description

About Atlantic Labs

Atlantic Labs is a European first-round investor, headquartered in Berlin. We believe entrepreneurs shape the future and work hard to support ambitious founders throughout their entire entrepreneurial journey. Emerging technologies excite us as much as startups tackling social challenges. Recent investments have focused on decarbonisation, artificial intelligence, and industrial automation.

Since 2013, we have led over 150 first-round investments – backing category creators such as Soundcloud, GetYourGuide, Clue, Vimcar, Zenjob, Choco, and Wandelbots. We’ve raised three successful funds from top-tier international investors.

Originally established by business angel Christoph Maire, a founder of mapping services unicorn HERE, our team has grown to 20 investors and operators. We work hard to help our founders at all stages with fundraising, talent support, go-to-market, and venture development.

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Design and Structure Investments: Lead the charge in creating new funds and diverse (co-)investment vehicles, handling due diligence, and navigating legal challenges with finesse.

  • Lead Finance and Fund Operations: Take the reins of our small, agile finance team, driving finance and fund operations with a hands-on, entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Innovate Portfolio Management: Create and implement bold strategies to oversee and enhance an international portfolio of over 100 cutting-edge tech startups.

  • Cultivate Investor Relationships: Build and nurture strong connections with our investors, delivering engaging and insightful quarterly updates.

  • Champion Compliance and Transparency: Ensure our fund operations are rock-solid, maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency. Oversee thorough audits to ensure we meet all regulatory standards.

  • Strategize Investment Allocations: Thoughtfully plan how we allocate investments and manage budgets, maximizing our financial impact.

  • Drive Portfolio Success: Work closely with investment managers to boost portfolio development and returns, finding the best exit strategies for mature companies.

  • Coach and Inspire the Team and our Portfolio Founders: Create a collaborative and growth-oriented environment, mentoring the finance team to continuously improve and thrive.

Why Join

  • Help us invest in tech companies that matter. We back founders who use technology to shape the future of AI, climate, robotics, space - and more.

  • Work with entrepreneurs at eye level. You will be our expert for everything finance-related and build strong relationships with founders, experts, and strategic partners in the disruptive technology space.

  • Have a major impact. Your everyday work will define how some of the hottest and most impactful technology ventures in Europe grow.

  • Through our extensive portfolio, you will have the opportunity to grow a unique network within the European VC and startup scene.

What You Need to Succeed

  • You've navigated the realms of Venture Capital, Private Equity, Investment Banking, or Audit, with a keen eye for tech or startup ventures.

  • Fluent in the language of both big-picture strategy and intricate details, you articulate with finesse.

  • Numbers are your forte, but you also speak the dialect of startup visionaries and investor interests.

  • You understand the delicate balance between various parties and maneuver through with expertise.

  • Comfortable in the flux of ambiguity, you excel in both long-term projects and day-to-day operations.

  • A trusted ally to our Managing Partners and a heavyweight presence in the VC/tech realm, you bring gravitas to every interaction.

  • Guided by honesty, transparency, and a commitment to fairness, you uphold the highest moral principles.

  • With a thirst for personal and professional development, you set ambitious goals and pursue them relentlessly.

  • Fluency in German (C1) and English (C1) is a must.
