Your Impact as a Director of Projects / Senior Project Manager:
We seek an experienced Director of Projects / Senior Project Manager to oversee and enhance the performance of Energy Vault BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) projects. You will collaborate with project engineers, construction managers, and external vendors, including EPCs and consultants, as well as the commercial team. As we rapidly grow and secure more contracts worldwide, you will help document and develop scalable processes, technology, and products. Future projects may encompass proprietary gravity-based storage, battery storage, green hydrogen energy storage technologies, and hybrid solutions.

This is a full-time role with a hybrid work schedule, a blend of working in-office in our Melbourne office and remote work.
 
Your Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the Delivery of Customer Projects Lead, from contract execution through to successful handover to operations across APAC, in line with Energy Vaults Systems, Processes and ISO Certifications.
 
You will be the valued and trusted partner of the end customer, with a primary focus to achieve on time on budget delivery, reducing project risks, without incidents/accidents and proactively identifying enhancement opportunities.
 
You will be responsible for monitoring and managing all aspects of Project Delivery, working with multiple stakeholders, working on multiple projects/tasks at one time, and working as part of a global team.


Your Mission:

  • Effectively manage client relations, including progress meetings, correspondence, periodic reports, change orders, and responses to client inquiries, providing a  “Best in class customer experience”.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partners to plan, sequence, develop schedules, critical deliverables, budgets, resource allocation plans, and other support requirements for assigned projects, covering all aspects of project engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Manage EPC and construction contractors’ activities related to the installation of civil foundations, electrical cabling infrastructure, Fiber Optic communications work, fencing etc.
  • Supervise project implementation to ensure cost, time, quality, and execution align with the contract schedule and budget.
  • Track progress against the established project plan and critical milestones, providing recovery action plans to adjust schedules and resource allocation as needed.
  • Ensure project Scope of Work, per customer requirements, is delivered on time and within budget, managing and monitoring adherence to approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Identify deficient contractor work, monitor, and verify that the Contractor effectively corrects deficient work. Record and drive to resolution corrective actions.
  • Monitor and ensure contractor compliance with the approved Quality Plan, coordinating with on-site quality specialists and stakeholder representatives.
  • Manage construction managers to provide with a thorough record of the work performed by completing and submitting a Daily construction report and Monthly project report.
  • Control submittals, including scheduling, receiving, reviewing, approving, and expediting submittals from suppliers and subcontractors to comply with the progress schedule.
  • Enforce company controls and strict discipline for Change Order Management and approvals for requests from company representatives, the EPC contractor, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure HSEQ compliance with all company processes and procedures (as per ISO accreditation) during project execution, including Site construction, ensuring zero harm. Work closely with the project construction, safety and quality managers to make corrections to comply with contracts, codes, and compliance policies.
  • Manage Grid modelling process and Inverter modelling to achieve connection and commissioning approval from AEMO or similar authorities or regulators.
  • Communicate project progress, escalations, and issue analysis to key stakeholders; collaborate with management and internal partners to implement changes to product, process, or program plan to resolve escalated issues and lessons learnt.
  • Manage project invoicing and purchase orders and coordinate ordered equipment logistics.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (civil, electrical, mechanical, or similar) or Management or another related engineering science
  • 10+ years’ experience in managing electrical infrastructure projects such as sub-stations, wind farms, solar/PV farms, gas-based power plants, power stations, other utility-scale power, data center projects.
  • 2+ years of BESS project experience, preferred.
  • Has independently overseen large multi-million-dollar projects.
  • PMP certification, preferred.
  • Experience in permitting/planning processes with local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Strong in Microsoft Office tools, including MS Project, Primavera P6 experience big plus.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 40%.
