Test Engineer

Battolyser Systems is looking to recruit a Test Engineer

Join the System Engineering and Validation team and play a pivotal role in the ground breaking development of the Battolyser®. As a member of our multi-disciplinary team of System and Mechanical Engineers, you'll be at the forefront of innovation, ensuring the verification and validation of our cutting-edge product at various system levels.

In this collaborative, project-based environment, you'll work closely with the research team, stack design team, production engineering, and manufacturing departments. Your involvement will span the entire product development cycle, from concept inception to product shipment, offering a diverse and exciting experience. More specifically, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Responsible for the development and implementation of test strategies, setups, procedures, and protocols for function, strength, and endurance testing, including safety procedures, quality control, and data management within stack development.
• Perform testing and characterization of battery and electrolyser function of prototypes, pilots and full-size Battolyser® stacks, including electrochemical and mechanical characterization, using a variety of laboratory equipment and techniques, both in-house and with external partners.
• Work closely with Chemists, Product Designers, Material experts, Research Scientists, and Engineers to optimize performance, resolve technical issues, ensuring safety and lifetime requirements.
• Analyze test data, maintain accurate records of experiments and results with the goal of providing recommendations for improvements in performance and design.
• Assist in the design and construction of experimental setups for testing and optimization.
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in both battery and electrolyser testing and characterization techniques.

We believe, in order to be successful in this role, you need at least 5+ years experience as a Test Engineer. 
You have a background in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Materials Science, Energy Engineering or a related field. Good overview and steering capabilities regarding the testing activities within the three testing lanes (Function, Strength, Endurance).

• Preferably in Battery and/or Electrolyser Industry or other hardware-test intensive industries.
• Proficiency in Design of Experiment, experience with programming and (statistical) data analysis.
• Proactive management capabilities: Keep time, cost, quality in mind. Work along: Initiate, Identify, Assess, Plan, Implement
• Excellent communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively within the team and to external partners.
• You control, steer, supervise activities and people, and are also not afraid of getting hands dirty.
• Well-versed in product design and development processes, a strong understanding of safety procedures and protocols, particularly those related to handling hazardous materials and equipment.
