Your Impact as a Senior Counsel - APAC 
You will serve as a key member of the 6-person legal team and report to the Chief Legal Officer.  Ideally, you are already living a commutable distance from our growing Melbourne office (Docklands area) and can work in the office at least 2-3 days each week.


Your Mission:

  • Draft, negotiate, and analyze a broad range of commercial contracts, including EPC Agreements, LTSAs, Software Agreements, and agreements with subcontractors.
  • Structure, draft, review, and negotiate a variety of other/related agreements.
  • Advise business teams regarding issues that arise during construction, including change orders, waivers, and force majeure notices, and after construction, including warranty claims, as necessary.
  • Provide timely and efficient commercial legal guidance on a broad range of business topics, including general corporate matters, intellectual property, commercial law, Security of Payments Act, dispute resolution, commercial liability, and risk assessment.
  • Other ad hoc projects for various internal clients.

Your Background:

  • LLB or equivalent from an accredited law school; LLM or JD nice to have.
  • Qualified to practise law in Australia.
  • 4+ years’ total legal experience after law school.
  • Experience with EPC contract drafting and negotiations. 
  • Experience with commercial/industrial construction; energy, renewables and/or energy storage experience is a plus.
  • Past experiences handling multiple legal matters successfully and efficiently in various legal areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and analyze complex legal matters, to summarize concisely significant legal concerns, and to communicate those concerns effectively to businesspeople.
  • Experience assessing level of legal and business risk in developing and communicating alternatives.
  • Problem Solving: You use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; you probe all fruitful sources for answers; you see hidden problems; you are excellent at honest analysis; you look beyond the obvious and don't stop at first answers.
  • Results Focused: You can be counted on to exceed goals successfully; you are constantly and consistently a top performer.

  • Effective Communication: You write and present well; you adjust to fit the audience and the message; you get a message across clearly and efficiently.
  • Experience in public companies is a plus.
