Responsibilities

Job Purpose

 

Pattern Energy is seeking an experienced Community Relations Coordinator to support community relations and stakeholder communications for Argentia Renewables project in Placentia, Newfoundland & Labrador. The position is responsible for implementing community engagement plans, collaborating with local community members, fostering relationships, engaging with local stakeholders, organizing events, and representing Pattern in communities hosting our projects. The role reports to Erika Taugher and works closely with the Green Fuels, Policy and Communications team.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the operation of Pattern Energy’s local office in Placentia.
  • Engage directly with members of the public on a variety of issues, including project questions / concerns and dissemination of project updates.
  • Represent Pattern in local public events, industry conferences, and similar local initiatives to maintain and build Pattern’s profile in the community and advance project objectives.
  • Serve as a reliable point of contact for project development tasks, including on-site field coordination, contractor liaisons, and engagements with various stakeholders
  • In a timely manner, communicate and provide updates regarding any contact with the community. Escalate discussions where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Pattern teams to assess local engagement risks and opportunities, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Design and execute campaign strategies to engage the community, including community groups, local leaders, and elected officials, to build relationships and support the project.
  • Identify and engage local organizations to establish long-term partnerships.
  • Identify opportunities for sponsorships and donations to enhance community outreach efforts.
  • Establish a coalition of community leaders and organizations.
  • Participate in meetings with elected officials, NGOs, and other stakeholders to share project information and build relationships.
  • Execute communication plans in coordination with the communications team, including creating and distributing messaging and materials.
  • Launch community education campaigns and programs to inform and mobilize residents in support of the project.
  • Manage special projects and events, such as community and landowner events.
  • Facilitate and document stakeholder engagement and community meetings, including report preparation and database management.

 

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION PREFERRED

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; focus on business administration, public engagement / political science; economics or communications / public relations would be an asset. Post Secondary Education is a plus but not required.

 

Required Work Experience

A minimum 1-5 years in public engagement or community liaison roles, preferably with exposure to large project management and administration is an asset.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Knowledgeable of renewable energy projects; climate change; green hydrogen technologies
  • Proficient in event planning, administration, and public consultation.
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Salesforce).
  • Fluency in English is required.

 

The expected starting pay range for this role is $24.00 - $30.00 hourly in local currency. This range is an estimate and hourly pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education.
