Overview

Spherical is hiring a contract Writer to craft articles, web copy, marketing materials, and product language for a digital kit of tools supporting climate resilience in Los Angeles. This position is remote. The ideal candidate will have experience distilling research into engaging and easily digestible content and will be confident in helping us craft language for marketing materials and develop a written style guide. LA residents and fluency in Spanish are must-haves for this role.

About Spherical

Spherical is a strategic design and integrative research studio supporting projects regenerating the health and integrity of Earth’s living systems. We are developing and incubating the Living Infrastructure Field Kit in close collaboration with partners and community members.
Spherical is headquartered in Oakland CA, with core project team members based in Los Angeles, CA.

Current Project

What You'll Do

  • Write articles explaining key concepts related to infrastructure, community co-design, climate remedies and effects, and data sets.
  • Help us to establish a tone that is friendly and relatable for laypeople in Los Angeles County without sacrificing accuracy
  • Provide background research and fact-checking support as-needed
  • Scriptwriting for videos and interactives
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts as-needed to inform and vet the content developed
  • Collaborate with product management to ensure content is integrated appropriately into the broader open source kit of tools and videos
  • Adhere to brand and style guidelines for alignment across content.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in content marketing or product copywriting
  • LA resident or former resident (familiarity with communities / issues local to Los Angeles)
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Experience creating marketing content for a software product
  • Experience writing about relevant domains, such as green infrastructure, urban planning, or environmental justice
  • Experience writing, researching, and/or developing educational content
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in friendly and relatable ways for laypeople
  • Experience developing style guides a plus
  • Experience with journalistic fact-checking and copy-editing practices
