Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of the Software Product Owner is to maintain software systems and ensure data quality, thereby enabling critical workflows for business units across Operations to optimize the performance of wind and solar power plants. This role centers on Asset Performance Management systems and other tools essential for asset monitoring, power generation, wind resource assessment, and downtime editing. The Associate will support a large customer base, acting as an internal liaison to advocate for the business and enhance functionality over time. This position requires a deep understanding of how new and existing processes and procedures impact data quality, user experience, and overall performance reporting workflows. Additionally, the role involves domain knowledge in software development, sprint planning, data and SCADA systems, data collection, KPI analysis, and engineering.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

The key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Become an Asset Performance Management software subject matter expert and the conduit between third party developers, product owners, and the internal users. Work cross functionally to identify opportunities for improvement and drive to completion.

  • Oversee data quality metrics and KPIs to ensure the overall architecture and data flow, from source systems to central UI and downstream processes, is fully functional and accurately represents true operational performance.

  • Accelerate issue resolution by analyzing data, identifying root causes, developing execution plans, and providing recommendations to all relevant parties.
  • Collaborate with internal users to provide training, troubleshoot issues, and communicate data quality concerns, including bugs, system breaks, and fixes.
  • Lead and manage the implementation of systems for new power plants from full warranty to self-perform that require varying degrees of system complexity and oversight.
  • Evaluate, refine, and maintain existing training documentation as well as develop new training and process management documents where applicable.
  • Participate in software development sprints that require testing, troubleshooting and validation of new system functionality pertaining to performance management software that impacts Operations.
  • Support and collaborate with Operations business units to analyse performance data and identify whether third party suppliers are liable for payments or bonuses.
  • Collaborate on cloud-based data pipeline solutions to integrate and standardize operational performance related datasets.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Qualifications Required

 

 

Educational Experience

 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field OR demonstration of equivalent work experience is required as a minimum.

 

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience, showcasing strong analytical skills and proven ability in managing cross-functional teams and resources, both internal and external.
  • Wind or Solar industry experience is preferred by not required.

Technical Skills

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in software systems and data management, ensuring seamless operation and data integrity.
  • Performance Management Software Expertise: Proficiency in complex performance management software such as Power Factors, optimizing system usage for business needs.
  • Database Skills: Ability to query databases, write SQL scripts, run stored procedures, and understand database architecture and schemas for efficient data retrieval and manipulation.
  • Data Management: Competence in managing and analyzing large amounts of operational data to derive actionable insights and support decision-making.
  • Data Visualization: Familiar with visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
  • Data Engineering: Familiarity with data engineering concepts, including APIs, cloud storage solutions, and data transformation processes to support robust data pipelines.
  • SCADA Systems Knowledge: Understanding of operational SCADA systems and servers, ensuring integration and functionality within the overall software environment.
  • Microsoft Suite Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio, for effective documentation, analysis, and presentation.
