Your Impact at Ascend Analytics 

We are seeking an experienced Manager or Senior Manager, BatterySIMM, to join our team in Boulder, Colorado. You will be responsible for serving Ascends clients, leading Analysts and coordinating activities around Ascend's SaaS BatterySIMM platform.  

BatterySIMM is a comprehensive data and analytics platform for storage and hybrid project valuation and site optimization. Utilizing Ascend's 20+ year nodal sub-hourly price forecasts, BatterySIMM software determines the value of storage at specific locations by performing complete dispatch simulations.    

Job Responsibilities 

  • Help clients make strategic decisions in the development and financing of their energy assets
  • Build a reputation as an expert in electricity markets with clients and their counterparties in financing transactions
  • Perform quantitative analysis and assimilate complex information into readily understood reports and presentations
  • Devise new approaches to represent results that provide support for decision analysis
  • Develop analyst staff to their full potential and foster employee retention  
  • Identify and eliminate efficiency constraints by advising on opportunities for systemization and automation  
  • Adeptly and confidently handle client matters, even if difficult, quickly escalating as needed  
  • Ensure work product and analytic initiatives are delivered in a timely fashion through task management and prioritization
  • Manage the progress of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrate high agility in response to shifting dynamics across the team and company priorities 
  • Advance client uses of Ascend's BatterySIMM and Market Intelligence platforms 

 

Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Engineering, Economics, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
  • 4+ years' experience in US power markets or other energy industry consulting and/or SaaS software environment
  • Talent in managing customer relationships
  • Authentic, clear, and effective oral communication
  • Demonstrable history or ability in mentorship and leadership; Experience guiding/overseeing the work of junior colleagues
  • Proven track record of previous successful project management experience
  • Highly organized and able to balance competing priorities with confidence and sense of urgency
  • Expertise across the technical, economic, and policy aspects of energy 
  • Familiarity with programming techniques for data processing and analysis in any language (R, python, etc) and strong skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaboration/teamwork skills, and work ethic 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree, preferably with a focus on Energy
  • Experience performing independent research
  • 2+ years managing 3+ persons
  • Experience developing high performing teams
  • Experience in continuous improvement initiatives 

Compensation: $130,000 - $220,000 (total compensation)

Negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Ascend highly values our employees and often pays above industry average.
