About the Power Resources Team

MCE’s Power Resources team is responsible for building a portfolio of clean resources to meet the needs of the customers and reliability of the grid. This team focuses on meeting MCE’s renewable energy and greenhouse gas free (GHG-free) targets. The power resources team negotiates and manages MCE’s Power Purchase and Energy Storage Agreements and Feed-in Tariff program. The effective work of this team has allowed us to reinvest in renewable energy projects within MCE’s service area that create family-sustaining green-collar jobs.

As a Power Resources Associate 

You will have the ability to support a wide range of energy procurement activities for supply of Greenhouse Gas-free energy (GHG-free), Asset Controlling Supply (ACS), and renewable energy.

This position may assist the Power Resources team with the day-to-day activities like contract administration and execution, invoice validation, updating databases, responding to data requests and generating reports. 

Key Responsibilities (Illustrative Only)

  • Support contract negotiations, draft and negotiate amendments and letter agreements to memorialize necessary changes to contracts.
  • Assist with administration and execution of power contracts.
  • Update Power Contract database and generate reports. 
  • Engage in proper document retention procedures, filing all supporting documents and communications throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Provide or support quantitative analysis on MCE’s positions and bidding strategies.
  • Monitor energy deliveries for assigned contracts and validate against expected deliveries and guaranteed deliveries. 
  • Perform validation on invoices as assigned to ensure accurate charges and credits have been applied.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering or finance.

Knowledge of:

  • Basic Understanding of energy policies, rules and regulations of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), California Energy Commission (CEC), the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), and the Department of Energy (DOE)
  • Performing quantitative analysis using Excel or another analytical software. Knowledge of databases is a plus.
  • Basic project management and administrative skills.
  • Advanced writing skills to draft and review power contract amendments/letters of agreements.
  • Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting Salary Range for the Temporary Power Resources Associate is $38.00 - $45.00 per hour.
