About the Role

We are looking for a Benefits Analyst to join our Total Rewards team and manage the ongoing administration and communication of Nuro’s benefit programs. This role will be the subject matter expert and main contact for all benefits-related questions, troubleshooting and helping to define Nuro’s benefits strategy. This role will partner closely externally with our broker, providers, and vendors and collaborate internally with People Systems, Accounting, and HR Business Partners to ensure employees can seamlessly and effectively utilize our benefits, inclusive of group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, workers comp, leave of absence, flexible spending, and retirement plans.

About the Work

  • Analyze and develop benefit plans, programs and policies covering accident and health insurance coverage, retirement and pension plans, income continuance, workers' compensation, leave of absence/time-off, holidays and vacations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all benefits-related questions or concerns regarding plan provisions, enrollments, and eligibility
  • Partner with People Systems on the design, configuration, and testing of HRIS benefits setup and integrations and any new vendor file set-up
  • Partner with external vendors to coordinate leave of absence and worker's compensation programs, including ongoing case management.
  • Communicate and track potential COVID exposure and provide resources to affected employees
  • Maintain timely audit and filing compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements, including completion of annual compliance testing for our 401(k), health, and welfare plans, and distribution of all legally required documents (e.g., SPDs, SARs, plan notices, etc.)
  • Review benefits invoices to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of payments to vendors
  • Responsible for all benefit related communications including open enrollment material, benefit guides and intranet content. 
  • Maintain strong collaborative partnerships with People Systems, Accounting, and HR Business Partners

Role Requirements

  • Direct experience leading annual benefits renewal process with broker
  • Familiar with pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements affecting employee benefits programs
  • Understanding of HR data, processes and connection to Payroll and Benefits carriers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members, leadership, and third-party vendors
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize workload and execute tasks independently, providing timely follow-up and resolution
  • You’re capable of providing support with high-level strategic plans while ready to execute plans on the ground

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of related HR and/or benefits experience. Workday experience is a plus
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to take a complicated topic and explain it in a simple way
  • Requires knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulatory and compliance laws; e.g. ERISA, PPACA, FMLA, CFRA, PDL, etc. 
  • Requires ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion & good judgment

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $94,000 and $141,000 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
