Wärtsilä Corporate Relations and Sustainability team is looking for a Director, Sustainability. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the sustainability team, planning and executing sustainability programs, and planning and monitoring team actions. In addition, you will be overseeing the sustainability reporting process implementation and reporting framework development, while developing Wärtsilä’s sustainability agenda and ways of working.

 

This position is based in Helsinki, Finland and you will be reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Relations and Sustainability.


Responsibilities:

 

  • Leading the sustainability team and plan, support, and monitor the implementation of agreed actions
  • Develop Wärtsilä’s sustainability agenda and ways of working 
  • Overall sustainability reporting framework and ensuring that regulatory reporting requirements are met
  • Developing the overall sustainability data collection roadmap 
  • Overseeing Wärtsilä’s corporate-level decarbonization program planning and execution
  • Ownership and development of the sustainability training and communication frameworks

 

Requirements:

 

  • Relevant academic degree (e.g. M.Sc.)  
  • 10+ years of experience in sustainability management, development, and reporting  
  • Strong knowledge and experience in sustainability  
  • Experience and ability to work in an international environment  
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, other languages are an advantage 
  • Skilled in working across diverse teams to accomplish various sustainability initiatives
  • Self-driven person with a can-do attitude striving for the best
  • Good negotiation and communication skills  
  • Team player
