The Project

The M80 Ring Road Alliance (comprising ACCIONA, MACA, and AECOM) has been selected to design and construct the M80 Ring Road Completion.

The project will deliver a major upgrade of the M80 Ring Road between the M80-Plenty Road interchange and the North East Link tunnel entrance at Watsonia, providing a seamless connection to North East Link. Works includes the construction of 14 kilometres of new lanes, bulk earthworks, retaining walls, bridge structures, rail interface works, intelligent transport systems, urban design and landscaping. This diverse and challenging project will be complete in 2028.

Key accountabilities for the position

  • Assist with the development and implementation of the temporary works procedures and processes

  • Oversea the management of the vetting and contractual engagement of temporary works designers and temporary works proof engineers.

  • Engage suitably qualified and experienced Temporary Works Designers to design the temporary works based on the best value proposition for the Alliance. Taking into consideration; resource availability, cost, program and the capability of the proposed Consultant(s).

  • In conjunction with the Temporary Works Technical Lead support the Delivery Team in identifying temporary works requirements and developing solutions that enhance safety constructability and value for money

  • Support the Temporary Works Technical Lead to ensure designs are developed with consideration to construction staging / methodology and that briefs accurately include all relevant constraints and requirements.

  • Engage suitably qualified temporary works designers to complete required designs

  • Where required engage suitably qualified and experienced Proof Engineer to check the design.

  • Assist the Delivery Team to ensure that the application of the temporary works procedure is consistent and compliant.

  • Support the Temporary Works Technical Lead

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Ideally you will have a tertiary education in civil, structural engineering or similar

  • Highly experienced in temporary works across all phases, design, planning, procurement, and delivery in support of major infrastructure projects

  • Experienced in management of temporary works consultants in the local market

  • An ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders not limited to clients, design consultants, local authorities, sub-contractors, and delivery teams
