AECOM is seeking a Alternate Delivery Senior Business Development Manager with a  focus on the federal government for our Energy Practice.  This is a senior level position within our Energy business practice. The position will primarily focus on developing opportunities related to alternative financing business models (ESPC, UESC, ESA) along with energy transition opportunities as electrification, decarbonization, hydrogen generation, and resilience. It will include strategic planning to position for emerging opportunities.

The qualified candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the growth strategy for AECOM’s alternate delivery business. This individual will define the growth plans and cultivate client relationships that result in business growth.

Success in this position requires knowledge of the nature and trajectory of the global energy transition and the Federal Government’s goals and strategies around using financed and alternate delivery projects to decarbonize and improve energy security and resilience;. knowledge of the current pipeline of Federal energy projects and contracting models; and the ability to collaborate with a strategic interdisciplinary team of business development and operations professionals.

We are seeking an individual with:

  • Proven expertise in business development and opportunity development/execution
  • Knowledge of federal energy business models and contracting approaches, including ESPC and UESC contracting tools
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, creative problem-solving, collaboration and leadership skills
  • Strong proposal management and excellent writing ability
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise risk management

The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Act as AECOM’s primary point of contact for active ESPC projects under the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Huntsville Center (HNC) and Department of Energy
  • Supporting projects and programs through complete life cycle including the feasibility phase, preliminary and detailed design, construction, start-up, and commissioning
  • Develop and implement multi-year growth strategies.
  • Understand agency specific procurement process for alternatively financed contracting.
  • Sustain existing relationships with federal professionals implementing energy savings projects and develop new relationships.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of emerging energy transition opportunities.
  • Identify, develop, and propose new projects; negotiate partnerships and alliances; structure and close transactions; manage senior-level relationships internally and externally.
  • Work independently to pursue new business prospects.
  • Lead proposal development.
  • Exercise broad knowledge of the business to support cross-discipline collaboration.
  • Establish/expand AECOM’s brand recognition with key decision makers and leaders within assigned Federal, utility, technology provider, and other partner groups.
  • Expand AECOM’s footprint by evaluating opportunities for teaming and partner relationships.
  • May supervise and oversee business development or program management staff and managers.
