Job Description:

The Product Environmental Compliance & Sustainability Specialist is responsible for compliance with applicable standards and material regulations (e. g. RoHS, REACH & WEEE for the EU market or TSCA for the US market) in the Production Responsible Unit (PRU) and in other Product Manufacturing Units (PMUs). He/She also coordinates and supports the ecodesign and circularity activities with R&D and product management.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance and implementation of applicable regulations regarding environmental, material, sustainability, circular economy and carbon neutrality (e. g. RoHS, REACH, WEEE, TSCA or CBAM)

  • Coordination of cross-functional teams at the Minden site and other manufacturing locations to minimize risks and ensure product compliance with relevant regulations

  • Checking the conformity status of products by querying and analyzing SAP master data and checking the materials in collaboration with departments such as: R&D, quality assurance, purchasing or product master data

  • Regular documentation of material compliance status for the management team as well as preparation of declarations of conformity required by customers or external regulatory authorities (e. g. ECHA). Contact person for internal or external customer inquiries

  • Guiding the implementation of concepts for 4 RE (reuse, remanufacturing, repair, recycling)

  • Definition of generic as well as project specific technical EcoDesign concepts for our products developed in the different Research and Development based on customer requirements and (future) Legal Technical Regulations, Norms and Standards

  • Coordination and tracking of EcoDesign related process steps

  • Supporting activities to reduce the CO2 footprint and improve sustainability metrics

  • Participation in professional events and committees to track and interpret global regulations changes in the field

  • Providing and conducting of trainings

Your background

  • University degree in engineering (chemical, materials, electrical or environmental engineering), natural sciences or comparable degree

  • Further training in the area of environmental product compliance desirable

  • Experience in compliance with global environmental and product regulations, with a focus on chemical and materials regulations such as RoHS, REACH, TSCA, Conflict Minerals etc.

  • Experience in project management and reporting

  • Experience in the field of eco-design or life cycle analysis is an advantage

  • Above-average knowledge of data analysis and MS Excel skills

  • Initial experience with software for LCA modeling is an advantage.

  • Self-motivated and organized. Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work both independently and in a team

  • Passionate about environmental systems, life cycle thinking, and product sustainability

  • Conscientious person with a strong sense of responsibility
