ChargeScape – Head of Utility Programs

About ChargeScape

The U.S. is on track for 50% of all new vehicle sales in 2030 to be electric – but our power grid was not built to withstand this level of electricity demand, and charging remains a pain point for drivers. With over 80% of EV charging occurring at home, ChargeScape was formed by some of the world’s largest automakers (BMW, Ford, and Honda – with more joining soon) with the mission to enable everyone to access sustainable, affordable energy from a reliable power grid.

ChargeScape’s software platform serves as the connective tissue between EV drivers and power utilities, using cloud-based commands to schedule EV charging for the most grid-friendly, low-carbon hours all while putting money back in drivers’ wallets. We recently launched with a founding team of executives with over a decade of experience in EV charging software, and are looking to make one of our first hires for a critical leadership position.

The role

The Head of Utility Programs will report to ChargeScape’s VP Business Development and will be responsible for overseeing the launch, growth, and continued success of ChargeScape’s managed EV charging programs across the world. This critical leadership role works across the product, sales, account management, marketing, and driver support teams to ensure that our utility clients experience the best of ChargeScape and that our utility programs deliver on their objectives while delighting EV drivers.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Working with the sales team to scope and finalize utility program contracts, and operationalize those contracts after signature;
  • Working with the product, engineering, marketing and driver support teams to ensure rapid and successful launch of utility EV charging programs;
  • Building and managing a team of account managers who run the day-to-day operations of our utility EV charging programs;
  • Setting and delivering on utility program growth and success KPIs (e.g. # of EVs enrolled, % of EV load shifted);
  • Managing relationships with key stakeholders from utilities, automotive OEMs, and other partners;
  • Providing program monitoring & verification services by analyzing and reporting on program data to utilities and other stakeholders;
  • Supporting marketing and customer outreach efforts by drafting high-quality communications and collateral;
  • Owning our “Utility Solutions” suite of products and working closely with the product team to input into their roadmap and ensure new features and capabilities align with client needs and timelines; and
  • Representing ChargeScape at industry events and conferences.

The candidate

The ideal candidate:

  • Has exceptional relationship management skills and understands utility preferences, operations and technology stacks;
  • Is highly pragmatic with an 80/20 mindset and a focus on levers that will drive results;
  • Applies sound judgment to solve client and internal challenges;
  • Has both strong data analysis skills as well as exceptional writing capabilities; and
  • Is humble and hard-working, willing to take on tasks both large and small to support ChargeScape’s clients and drivers.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of program management experience in vehicle-grid integration, energy or sustainability;
  • Previous experience working in the automotive sector;
  • Master’s degree preferred.

The opportunity

We will be able to offer you:

  • A competitive salary and bonus, with total cash compensation of $150,000 - $200,000 per year;
  • A comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, 401(k) and unlimited PTO;
