The Senior Microbiologist is responsible for supporting all activities relating to the new start-up microbiology lab and customer service center based out of Australia and New Zealand. The role will work closely with other Eurofins entities within the Environment division, in particular the Environmental Sales and BD teams across Australia and New Zealand.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Performing routine as well as non-routine analysis of microbiological samples.
  • Acting as an OHS representative, ensuring a safe work environment for all staff and participating in Health & Safety committee meetings.
  • Ensuring that results due are in on time and if unable to meet the deadline, contacting Analytical Service Manager / Customer.
  • Supervising the day to day performance of the laboratory as well as staffing requirements at the laboratory/service center, including overtime, casual requirements and hiring of new staff.
  • Acting as team leader discussing work flows, TAT and facilitating issues management and resolution.
  • Client liaison / Technical problem solving and implementing new method development and validation for all tests.
  • Maintaining and managing accurate and precise documentation, and organising for calibrations of pipettes, balances, timers, thermometers, etc. to be carried out each month
  • Directly supervising and monitoring of laboratory technicians including training and signing off on technician training records.
