SENIOR TEST ENGINEER

 

Odqa Renewable Energy Technologies is a fast-growing venture capital-backed renewable energy engineering spin out from the University of Oxford's Thermofluids Institute and Said Business School.  The company was founded in late 2017 to commercialise Oxford’s jet engine cooling knowledgebase in the renewable energy field.

THE ROLE:

Odqa is now at a very exciting stage and looking to take the next step in its evolution. We are growing and have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Test Engineer to join our team.  This role will report directly into the Head of Engineering and will be at the forefront of assembling, testing and evaluating our prototype Concentrated Solar Power systems.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Odqa’s Engineering Team rig tests.
  • Liaise with Odqa engineers to develop test requirements and operating conditions.
  • Compile Build Specification and Instrumentation List documents to define the items on test.
  • Oversee machine assembly by our group of technicians.
  • Calibrate sensors.
  • Maintain the Test Log and write subsequent Engineering Test Reports.
  • Component strip condition photography and reporting.
  • Fault reporting and analysis.
  • Development of system control and data acquisition.
  • Rig condition monitoring and maintenance plans.
  • Adhere to the company’s Health and Safety policy and safe working practices, supporting the writing and review processes for Testing and Development risk assessments.
  • Perform job duties in an ethical, professional manner which is consistent with the Odqa Way and defined policies and procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers.

 

 

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven test and development experience, preferably within an R&D environment.
  • Ideally you will have experience of National Instruments’ LabVIEW.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with good judgement.
  • Ability to adapt and manage multiple tasks and priorities, whilst remaining calm and productive under pressure.
  • A team player, who works well within a close knit team of diverse backgrounds and experience, who can work equally as well individually.
  • A desire to learn with a growth mindset.
  • A ‘Can Do’ attitude – doing what is needed for the business and helping to achieve our goals.
