About the Job 

Peak Energy is looking for Embedded Software Engineers (multiple positions) to join our Energy Storage Systems (ESS) team and work on the development of our gigawatt-scale sodium ion energy storage system. Opportunities exist to write real-time software, application software, or a mix depending on skills and interests. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Write application level Modern C++ software targeting Linux. 
  • Write real-time C/C++ RTOS-based software targeting microcontrollers. 
  • Write tools in Python to support various efforts such as testing and prototyping. 
  • Prototype designs using a mix of development boards and in-house board designs. 
  • Support testing, integration, and verification. 
  • Assist in the development of software requirements. 
  • Support products deployed to the field. 
  • Participate in design reviews. 
  • Adhere to formatting standards and naming conventions. 

Qualifications (Not All Are Required): 

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field. 
  • 3-10+ years of professional engineering experience. 
  • Experience writing firmware for RTOS-based real-time embedded systems. 
  • Experience writing software for Linux and embedded Linux systems. 
  • Experience writing Python for laboratory experiments and prototypes. 
  • A preference for a debugger over print statements. 
  • A preference for using an RTOS over bare metal solutions. 
  • A bias to using an oscilloscope or other test equipment to verify your work. 
  • Have shipped at least one commercial or industrial product. 
  • Experience bringing battery management or power conversion systems into production. 
  • Familiarity with high-voltage systems. 
  • Experience with utility-scale systems. 
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.

The salary range for this role is $151,000 - $225,000, with actual pay varying based on work location, experience, and skills. At Peak Energy, we value our employees and promote work-life balance.
