We are looking for a Project Engineer to join Data Center team.

 

 Data Center Project Engineer/Manager


Reporting to  Global Ops Lead, the Project Engineer will be a customer facing lead on behalf of Smardt with a number of Strategic Data Centers Accouns  and responsible for coordinating and managing activities with different stakeholders such as; Sales, Service, Field Service, QA/QC, and Engineering teams within Smardt, and externally with Data Center project team members, including DC Ownership Team, CX agent, EOR, GC, MEP subcontractors, equipment sub vendors, etc. in order to manage all Smardt site related activities from equipment arrival on site to final hand off to customer, post CX. Coordinate activities between any and all stakeholders noted above, execute all Start up, CX and onsite project related activities, and facilitate/track all parts/services during the project timeline schedule and post handoff to customer, including transition to post warranty and PM related services.



Responsibilities

  • Project Management Leadership: Manages all phases of data center projects, from initial planning through to final warranty and maintenance, ensuring seamless coordination and hand offs between internal and external stakeholders and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Ensures subcontractors understand expectations of the project. Owns and manages project execution plan including updating the project schedule
  • Planning and Coordination: Develops detailed project plans, staffing needs, and schedules, working closely with Account Management team and Service Team to allocate resources effectively and achieve project goals.
  • Scope Development and Reporting: Prepares comprehensive proposals detailing project scope, milestones,  delivers regular progress reports to management and clients to maintain transparency and manage expectations.
  • Stakeholder Management and Customer Relations: Establishes and maintains strong relationships with customers, contractors, and internal teams, resolving issues promptly to uphold customer satisfaction and ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Analyzes financial reporting systems and project schedules to proactively address potential problems. Effectively communicates project progress, issues, and financial status to management as required.
  • Continuous Improvement and Quality Assurance: Implements risk analysis and mitigation strategies, reviews project status reports, and adjusts plans as needed to optimize project efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Develop Lessons Learned and QA/QC project list for review w/ Engineering/Production/QA/QC team.

What would be your day to day

  • Projects Milestones Planning , Risk Assessment and corrective actions.
  • Risk Assessment of assigned project and create mitigation plan
  • Coordinate equipment delivery to customer sites
  • Participate in Customer witnessed / Factory Witness Testing
  • Schedule start-up activities
  • Attend Smardt Internal DC and other various weekly meetings
  • Participate in scheduled pre-commissioning , commissioning meetings
  • Oversee all L2-L5 activities inc; customer equipment acceptance, start-up, commissioning, & final IST Test activities
  • Maintain site issues, deficiency lists and open items w/ both Smardt and Client online tracking software programs
  • Review start-up and commissioning reports from Service Technicians
  • Prepare hand overs and final product/project close out documents
  • Coordinate w/ Smardt teams internally & customer site project teams for any required RCA initiatives
  • Lead and coordinate product updates and upgrades both internally and with customer sites
  • Any other related task, as directed by your supervisor, cross functional teams.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree of a relatable field. ( Mechanical Engineering,  Construction,,,,) or Minimum of a technical Associates Degree with 5 years of field/project experience or  8 years equivalent related field experience in the HVAC industry.
  • 5+ years related experience with a combination of Commercial HVAC work and/or Data Centers, Mission Critical Unit

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

  • Prior experience working with Data Center Solutions.
  • knowledge of HVAC designs, applications, and energy saving solutions.
  • Project Management Certification such as PMP, PMI, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Experiences in Commissioning activities
