Are you someone with a strong financial reporting and analytics background with an interest in commercial responsibilities?

We are looking for someone to join our dynamic and growing US Renewables Commercial Team!

Reporting to the Director, Commercial Management - US Renewables, the Commercial Reporting and Analysis Manager is responsible for the preparation of periodic financial reports and will partner with internal stakeholders to provide insights into financial and operational trends that directly influence business decisions.  Reporting includes asset performance, including financial hedges and offtake agreements.  This is an exciting financial and analytics role involving a combination of forward-looking forecasting, analysis of actual results (financial and operational), as well as an array of ad-hoc analyses, all of which drive results for the business.  You are required to have a strong understanding of how plant operations, including wind/solar resources, LMPs, and other plant characteristics impact financial performance.  You will also play a key role in assisting the Commercial team in developing valuation models in support of various commercial initiatives, evaluating contracting and hedging economics, and responding to ad-hoc queries.

You will contribute to our team by:

  • Understanding plant operating characteristics, providing advice and commentary as a financial expert on US Renewable Facilities.

  • Leading the development of the long-term plan, annual budget, and quarterly forecast processes for the assigned facilities, in collaboration with internal stakeholders.

  • Analyzing and reporting on monthly, quarterly, and annual variances, with a focus on key drivers/trends.

  • Ensuring procedures are well-developed and established internal controls are operating effectively, and that all analysis reflects key trends, assumptions and drivers to ensure business analysis that will enhance overall financial results.

  • Delivering responses to analytical requests and/or data to the supported business partners in operations, management and other functional areas of the company

  • Collaborating with the commercial team to develop and implement risk management strategies and mitigating plans to preserve, improve, and optimize the value of existing assets, including delivering the value-add targets assigned to commercial management for each asset.

  • Providing guidance and draft assigned sections of strategic asset management plans for the assigned generation facilities.

  • Providing input and recommendations that will impact strategic decisions.

  • Preparing financial models and written summaries to support project initiatives, budget presentations, and other commercial activities.

  • Optimizing the process, timelines, and flow of information between other finance groups and corporate financial reporting in ensuring timely receipt of accurate information while realizing efficiency and optimal use of resources.

  • Providing financial data input or technical accounting advice to inform corporate acquisitions and divestiture decisions.

  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with key stakeholders by managing the process, timelines, expectations, and flow of information among other finance groups, external auditors, and corporate financial reporting.

  • Actively participating with internal subject matter expert teams with regard to the commercial management and optimization of value for the assigned assets.

  • Enable effective commercial management by supporting and/or managing commercial efforts on an ad hoc basis.

  • Staying updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in financial reporting.

What you will bring to the role:

  

Education:

  • Completed degree in engineering, commerce, economics, or related field. 

  • A Professional Accounting Designation or equivalent is an asset.

  • A master’s degree is an asset.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in finance with operational, commercial, engineering, business development, or accounting, financial and analytical roles; preferably in the deregulated electricity or other related industry.

  • Knowledge/experience with respect to power markets, power generation, power marketing, regulatory, commodities and related agreements, transmission and related agreements and power purchase agreements is preferred. 

  • Experience with tax-equity partnership structures for renewable projects is an asset, as is experience in renewable energy. 

Technical & Other Skills:

  • Basic understanding and experience in power markets, electricity generating plants, plant operations for each region where the assets are situated.

  • Strong financial analysis skills, familiarity with financial statements, budgets, forecasting and development of asset earnings profiles.

  • Ability for travel in the North American market to plant sites and other offices.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and an ability to handle a dynamic and full workload.

  • Presents well with the ability to represent the company with external parties.

  • Ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders and foster positive relationships on multi-disciplinary issues.

  • Takes initiative and is able to manage ambiguity and conflict with the ability to effectively exercise influence.

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI, Oracle, and/or Hyperion is considered an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid office/work from home position based in our downtown Phoenix location.

  • Some travel to locations across North America will be required.

Additional Details:

The pay range for this position is $115,330 to $127,470.  The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior relevant experience. This position is eligible for health care benefits, retirement benefits, paid time off, and annual bonus.

Clearance of Credit check is required for this position.
