An opportunity to play your part

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mobile Application Engineer (React Native) to develop and maintain the mobile app and supporting APIs for Hive Connected Homes. You can expect to work across the full range of our supported products, including Hive Active Heating, Lighting, EV Charging, Sensors & Plugs, and associated subscriptions and services.

You will be involved in the latest Hive trends helping our customers to transition towards net-zero by developing solutions like electric vehicle charging and assisting heating customers to keep an eye on their energy usage and save on their gas bills by continuously improving the new Hive Heating Plus service.

You will be a part of the team that is encouraged to investigate and adopt the latest technology trends into Hive’s services. They will be customer-focused by writing efficient and reliable code while at the same time aware of the new trends in the technology space. They will get their hands on a wide range of the Hive platform systems.

Location: We have a hybrid-work environment, where you will be predominantly home-based but maybe be asked to travel to the Windsor office occasionally

On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Work with stakeholders to deliver new and improved Hive features

  • Maintain existing Hive mobile application through bug fixing and refactoring

  • Explore ways to constantly improve/modernise the current codebase

  • Support the wider technical team by contributing to best practice ways of working, knowledge sharing and creating technical documentation

What we need from you

  • Experience developing cross platform mobile applications using JavaScript/TypeScript, React and React Native

  • Experience with unit/integration testing using Jest and RTL or similar

  • Experience/familiarity with Redux/Redux-Sagas/Redux Toolkit or similar

  • Some experience with iOS or Android development and creating or integrating with native modules in React Native is desirable but not essential

  • Experience/familiarity with continuous integration and build distribution tools such as CircleCI/AWS CodeBuild/TestFlight/Firebase App distribution is desirable but not essential.

  • Familiarity with AWS Cognito, OAuth or other SSO providers

  • Ability to collaborate and work with stakeholders to identify and refine any incoming requirements

  • Ability to think tactically and strategically about the solutions we provide and maintain for our customers
