ev.energy set up in 2018 with a simple aim -  to make electric vehicle charging simpler, greener, and cheaper for everyone. Drivers download our app and charge their vehicle overnight; and, in the background, we’re ingesting real-time data and using our proprietary smart-charging algorithm to align charging sessions with energy from renewable sources. This reduces carbon emissions caused by EV charging by as much as 70%.

This is a growing industry, with growing demand for our solution - a third of new cars by 2030 will be electric. Simultaneously, there’s increasing strain on the power grid (power outages have already jumped by 64% in the last decade in the USA). We are already working with over 30 utilities in the US, Canada and Europe, offering a way to reduce demand on the grid.

To achieve this we’ve brought together a team of over 100 people, bringing expertise from previous roles at National Grid, Tesla, Amazon, Arcadia, and Chargepoint; we’ve secured over 50m USD from leading VCs in the automotive and energy space including National Grid Partners, WEX Venture Capital, Energy Impact Partners and JLR’s InMotion Ventures. Come help us drive change for the better.

The role

We have ambitious growth plans and will be scaling across both North America and Europe following our existing success in both territories. Your mission will be to scale revenue from our existing utility accounts and programs globally, to achieve multimillion dollar revenues in the coming years. To do this you will own and shape your team, reporting into the CEO and working closely with the Executive Committee (ExCo).

What will you do?

  • Build and implement a strategy to increase revenue generated from our existing energy utilities, driving growth for the business and increasing our market share

  • Lean on your existing network within energy utilities to win new business (upselling and cross-selling), and maintain strong relationships with our existing large clients

  • Be one of our chief storytellers, able to articulate the vision and value proposition up to C-level with enterprise-level clients globally

  • Build scalable and repeatable processes and strategies in order to better plan for our future growth

  • Grow and support the existing team - taking responsibility for hiring and coaching, as well as introducing necessary processes, tools and incentives to keep the team motivated and able to do their best work possible

  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure goals align with overall business objectives

  • Introduce metrics and data to identify trends, challenges and opportunities for improvement

  • Synthesise results of existing utility programs to support new sales

What are we looking for?

  • Experience of scaling revenue pipelines from $1m>$10m>$50m>$100m in revenue, with extensive experience of personally growing (and leading teams to grow) existing accounts (as opposed to new sales/partnerships)

  • Experience selling to enterprise utility clients, including retailers and integrated utilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of the energy utility regulatory environment, with an understanding of how utility regulation works globally, and how that affects business development

  • Experience developing business with enterprise utility companies, with an excellent understanding of the complexities, sales cycles, policy landscape and trends

  • Confidence selling to clients up to C-level; you’ll be a consultative salesperson who has honed their craft, and can quickly build trust with clients in the US and Europe

  • Excellent ability to craft and hone pitch material and develop our value proposition - internally and externally you’ll be able to articulate the history, vision and opportunities, and excite and inspire listeners

  • Existing contacts and relationships within the industry - you’ll be able to quickly open up new doors as we scale the business

  • Ability to problem solve and think of solutions to often complex technical challenges, or to work with team members on resolving these challenges

  • Sales leadership - you’ll be able to recognise and hire talent, and nurture and mentor to create a world-class team. You’ll also be able to put in structures and processes to enable and incentive the team to do their very best work

  • Understanding of the wider mobility and energy policy landscape, with creative ideas on how to influence this to achieve overall business growth

  • An interest and enthusiasm in the company mission of reducing carbon emissions

How will we support you?

  • Work remotely and work well - we'll provide the tools you need to do your best (including a Macbook Pro), and can provide access to co-working spaces

  • Access to conferences, meet-ups and training through our L&D allowance

  • A structured career progression framework and advancement opportunities

  • Great benefits - including health insurance, 401(k) or pension, paid parental leave

  • Annual team gatherings - in previous years the whole company has spent a week together in London, Bath and Manchester in the UK

If you don’t have all of the requirements, but you’re really interested in what we’re doing, please apply anyway and we can consider your application now and in future! We value applicants regardless of their background or years of experience. We'll also do our best to accommodate reasonable adjustments to the interview process if needed.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity: we do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status or disability status. If you'd like a copy of our DE&I policy you can reach us at hiring@ev.energy.
