About the Company

Take risks. Disrupt. Make an impact. These are the core principles upon which the foundation of Enexor was built. is a venture-backed startup located just outside of Nashville, TN. We have developed a first-of-its-kind, renewable energy, and carbon conversion solution to help solve the world's organic and plastic waste problem and provide more clean, distributed energy and clean water solutions. We are looking for driven and interesting people to join our team who aren’t afraid to do something that’s never been done before.

Objective

The objective of this role is to design, document, program, implement, test, repair, and support automation processes and equipment for product development, external projects, and internal initiatives.

About the Role

The Electrical Engineer will support the entire company in a collaborative working relationship with key functional areas with an emphasis on product development and engineering. You will directly participate in the design, testing, and commissioning of our core product, future product development iterations, and internal projects that improve the company. Additionally, you will contribute to customer visits, vendor selection, and high-level presentations to the board and investors. Ideally, you are a creative problem solver, highly organized, a strong communicator, and able to strike a realistic balance among multiple priorities in a startup environment.

Future Work

  • Opportunity in improving power factor by balancing and rectifying for impedance, removing parasitic loads, removing redundant systems and sensors, and integrating the system to work with utilities in a streamlined fashion.
  • Field commissioning the system for feeding power from wherever the system is stationed.
  • This is an opportunity to design a ground up raw material to fuel system which will include process controls and automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review specifications, product drawings, and related documentation to determine the best overall electrical and controls solutions to meet or exceed requirements.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to develop, document, and implement fabrication, processing and assembly methods for new product introduction.
  • Develop overall electrical and controls architecture for complex assemblies and special process systems incorporating servo driven, VFD, and pneumatic components.
  • Integrate instrumentation and lab equipment into automated systems to provide accurate measurements and test results.
  • Support the mechanical engineering team to ensure synergistic conformance between mechanical and electrical control systems.
  • Research and specify robust and cost-effective purchased components and subsystems to meet system design requirements. Work with the assembly team to identify and debug mechanical and electrical system issues.
  • Provide project scope, cost, and schedule information related to electrical controls design tasks to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Provide vendor information and technical specifications to support procurement activities for various projects.
  • Research and scout technologies and best practices to keep the product current and competitive in the controls space.
  • Recommend and implement initiatives to reduce cost, increase efficiency, and improve the product to executives, engineers, and project managers. Produce relevant design and implementation documentation.

  • Experience with the design and integration of control systems for custom automated machinery.
  • Experience with the design, integration, and deployment of software meant to control hardware.
  • Experience with the design, integration, and deployment of high voltage devices.

Preferred Attributes

  • Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, Servo Controls, Inverters, Power Electronics, and VFDs.
  • Ability to creatively solve problems with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to document controls hardware and controls software design.
  • Ability to document electrical drawings of components using AutoCAD electrical.
  • Ability to calculate loads for a complex system of sensors for power supply specification.
  • Ability to ensure EMF generated for high voltage components doesn't interfere with low voltage components.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Structured Text, C, C++, Python, or SQL programming experience.
  • Microcontroller programming and sensor interfacing. PCB board design.
  • Ansys Electronics | Electronic Design & Electromagnetics Simulation Software for potential simulation and design of PCBs, high voltage components etc.
