About the Job 

Peak Energy is looking for a product certification specialist to join our Product team and play a crucial role in driving the development and deployment of our sodium ion based large-scale energy storage systems. The product certification specialist will own Peak’s product certification strategy and execution, working to understand greater market requirements for certifications, interpret codes and standards to clarify engineering team priorities and to perform self-certification or certification in conjunction with NRTLs and other certifying bodies on Peak’s finished products. This role requires an understanding of codes, standards and certifications applicable to utility scale battery systems along with battery system design, market trends and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to drive product development and commercialization. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Regulatory Compliance: 
    • Identify and interpret relevant regulatory standards, including but not limited to UL, IEC, UN, CE, and other global certification requirements to provide guidance to Peak’s product strategy and engineering design activities. 
    • Develop and implement compliance strategies to ensure all products meet required standards.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and industry best practices. 
  • Certification Management: 
    • Perform self-certification for Peak’s products where applicable.
    • Coordinate with external certification bodies and testing laboratories to schedule and oversee certification testing.
    • Prepare and submit all necessary documentation for product certifications.
    • Track the status of certifications and ensure timely renewals and updates. 
  • Internal Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the product development team to integrate certification requirements into the product design and development process.
    • Provide guidance and training to internal teams on regulatory and certification requirements.
    • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain comprehensive records of all certification documents, test reports, and compliance-related correspondence.
    • Generate regular reports on the status of certifications and compliance activities for management review. 
  • Continuous Improvement: 
    • Identify opportunities for improving certification processes and efficiency.
    • Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in energy storage and regulatory environments. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in regulatory compliance, certifications, or quality assurance within the energy storage, renewable energy, or a related industry
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant certification standards and regulatory requirements for battery storage systems.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with certification or requirements management software  
  • Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and driving positive environmental impact through technology innovation.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as needed.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
