THE ROLE:

Odqa is now at a very exciting stage and looking to take the next step in its evolution. We are growing and have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Aerothermal Engineer to join our team.  This role will report directly to an engineering Fellow and you will be at the forefront of designing, building and maintaining mechanical systems and structures that function based on processes driven by heat transfer and aerothermal dynamics.

  • You are a recent graduate or equally an industry experienced engineer with a mechanical aerothermal engineering discipline.
  • You are a highly motivated to work in the renewables section and can demonstrate practical aptitude in addition to academic ability.

  • You can be resourceful and are not afraid to use your own initiative or ask for help!

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support analysis and experimental testing of new design concepts.
  • Support manufacturability investigation for new design concepts.
  • Support other test and development housekeeping activities.
  • Adhere to the company’s Health and Safety policy and safe working practices, supporting the writing and review processes for the Test and Development risk assessments.
  • Perform job duties in an ethical, professional manner which is consistent with the Odqa Way and defined policies and procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers.

 

 

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Fundamentals understanding of heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
  • Attention to detail with technical acumen.
  • Ability to adapt and manage multiple tasks and priorities, whilst remaining calm and productive under pressure.
  • A team player, who works well within a close knot team of diverse backgrounds and experience, who can work equally as well individually.
  • A desire to learn with a growth mindset.
  • A ‘Can Do’ attitude – doing what is needed for the business and helping to achieve our goals.

 

Desirable Experience – Nice to have, however not essential:

  • Experience of ANSYS workbench for setting up thermal and aerodynamics simulations
  • Experience in programming such as MATLAB and python.
  • Experience in solid modelling using parametric feature-based approach such as SolidWorks.
