Job Description

The Project 

ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2, Sydney’s third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.  

Project scope includes: 

  • Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction 
  • Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels 
  • Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway 

 

In line with the above, ACCIONA are now looking for a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join the Western Harbour Tunnel Project. The Senior Electrical Project Engineer would play a crucial role in the Mechanical & Electrical installation phase. 

 

Specific Tasks Include 

  • Provide positive leadership to staff, contractors, and key stakeholders across the project.
  • Responsible for a number electrical focused packages, including LV, ITS and Comms. 
  • Cross discipline coordination between civil, mechanical & electrical construction teams.
  • Development of scope and contract documents for procurement of electrical supply & installation subcontracts.
  • Participate and lead design & constructability reviews for assigned work packages.
  • Drive commitment to safety, quality, and commercial best practices. 
  • Continually assess the project for high-risk activities and hazards and ensure action is taken. 
  • Provide support and advice on planning and design suitability and options to ensure project success, value for money and best practice are achieved. 
  • Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems. 
  • Manage cost control for certain aspects of the project in order to ensure the project meets its performance targets in relation to budget. 
  • Identify and forecast risks and opportunities for the project package of works. 
  • Manage the delivery of works both subcontracted and self-performed. 

Required Skills and Competencies

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering Electrical packages for large infrastructure projects. 
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, tools, and techniques.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Prior experience working in tunnels would be advantageous .
